Root Fission 2.1 final

Well, I tried installing the Revolution theme for Apex and it installed but was causing a lot of FC issues, which is what I was expecting. I then went back to my bare Fission backup and installed the Blackout theme and created another backup. I then did the Apex clock removal mod and it worked fine. I really wanted the white circle battery icons from Apex so I used NinjaMorph to change them.

Here are a few pics:

How do you do the battery mod??

How do you do the battery mod??

I first downloaded the 10% battery mod.zip file and pulled out the images that I needed. I then had to rename some of the charging icons to match up with the Fission images since Fission uses 6 images for charging and Apex uses 20. I then placed them in a folder, placed them on the sdcard and started changing them. If you need instructions and/or the battery icons let me know and I'll do a little write up and upload the icons.

Please do, I don't understand though, How did you convert 20 images down to 6?

I took elements from both kangerade and apex themes, also the battery and clock mods.....applied them to Fission 2.1 final and it seems to be working well so far.

faber78 did a pretty good job, you might want to check out his thread:
http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...tblackoutkangblue2-1-theme-fission-2-1-a.html

His had hints of blue throughout, while my setup still has some green left; if I don't feel too lazy I might change any green that's left to blue.

Dang, thats kinda what I want, the Kang launcher icons, with the circle battery mod. What does the settings screen look like with Blue Kang? Are the icons still all white?

I didn't have to convert 20 images to 6 but I had to pick out 6 of the 20 images to use to replace the stock images. Apex uses 20 "animation" images for charging while Fission uses only 6 so I basically just used every 4th Apex image for each Fission image. I'll do a little write up and upload the images so they can be downloaded. I'll check with Fab to be sure he doesn't mind.

Ok thats what I was guessing, I may have to pickup some developer tools for android and start looking into this stuff for fun. I been coding Java, XML etc for long enough now I'd hate to miss out. Maybe I could even contribute once I get a better understanding of the OS and packages, and API.

lol...I wish I knew more than I did, I don't know a thing about coding, I more or less figure it out as I go.

Theming doesn't really require any knowledge of Java or it's API's it's really all editing images and XML. I haven't looked at / written a single line of Java in probably over 10 years.

Though sometimes I have had to edit smali, which is kind of like assembly for Java in Android.

I'd be interested in learning how edit the XML files, where/what would you suggest as far as learning how to do it?

Yeah, they look all white still.....but you can change them. I changed them to look like the ApeX settings icons, but I was getting force close issues...I am going to see if I can figure it out later on today when I get home.

Right now I have a mixture of Kang, ApeX, and a third theme....I can't remember which right now.

I can post it if you guys want to try it out....it's working pretty good for me so far.

I heard back from Fab and he said "go for it" so I'll get the images uploaded and do a little "how to" for using NinjaMorph to change them.

It's a TranQ thing. You are supposed to use the TranQ toolbox to change it back to the "M" before flashing something else because most ROMs don't change the splash screen, just the boot animation.

true, thanx for the answer, think i'm just going to flash back to 2.1 and go ahead and do the ota update and reload everything (still running leaked 2.2)

Here is a quick write up on how to change the battery icons in Fission's Blackout theme to the white circle battery icons from Apex (thank you Fab) using Ninjamorph. The icons that I used can be downloaded HERE, unzip the file and place the folder on the root of your sdcard. Please read through the instructions prior to starting and if something is unlcear please feel to ask for assistance. The list of .png files that you want to replace is listed below.

Once you've read through the instructions and have started the NinjaMorph app start with step 1.

1. New Project >system >framework >framework-res.apk. It will then extact a bunch of files.
2. Select res >drawable-hdpi-v4 (If you have just a drawable-hdpi folder the icons will be in there.
3. Scroll through the list of .png files(almost to the bottom of the list) and find the one you want to replace and press on it.
4. You are then taken you the root of your SDcard where you pick the new png file from you BattCon folder. Once you find your new icon, with the same name, select it, you will get a confirmation message (overwriting), select Yes.

You will now be back to the beginning of step 2, repeat steps 2-4 until you are done replacing all of the .png files listed. Once you are done and you are back to step 2, continue below.

Now that you are done replacing your files and you are back to step 2 again(where you have the assets, META-INF and res folders) press the blue back button (bottom right) and select Finish Project then "framework-res.apk", it will then create the package and you will get a confirmation message (overwriting), select Yes, the next confirmation message is asking if you want to ZipAlign the apk file, read the message and select yes or no(i use yes), then you get the last confirmation saying that you will need to reboot, select Ok. If you were unable to hit yes when the last message popped up (asking you to delete the project) delete it the next time you start NinjaMorph. Your phone will now reboot.

first time i did it i actually had to do it manually, pull the icons and then do the math after finally figuring out i could only use the orgianal 6 places (0-5) and which of the 21 (0-21) from the other theme to use....which of course, like you said earlier ends up being;
.png: 0,4,8,12,16,20
delete the original 0-5 and drag and drop these 0,4,8,12,16,20 into the old place.
then rename respectivelly: 0,1,2,3,4,5.

cant remember if i had to bring the .xml over.

from inside 7zip

Lol. I guess it was a mistake to use the additional charging .pngs. Everyone uses 6 but I just HAD to be fancy and put 20 of them in.

Now that everyone's implementing the 10% hack, my method isn't really needed any more. Nevertheless, I'll condense and simplify the instructions in case someone needs it.

Awesome. Thanks for the tutorial. Easy to follow and do and now I have my round 10% battery icon. Thanks
