Root Fission V1.2 is now available

Does anyone have an idea if these AOSP-ish builds have modified files.. like for example is anyone using Beesely's build-prop and seeing improvement on rotating delays etc..?

This is my favorite rom so far. Very snappy.

It's even snappier after I went into the spare parts app and selected fast on all of the animation speeds.

This rom is fast! Closest thing I've used to a true Vanilla rom on the X. My only quip is the browser seems slower but that could be due to a multitude of other issues. So far
I'm loving it.

Yes this is a very, very, nice and stable ROM... It's lightning fast, lightweight, and very snappy...

Been running it for almost 24 hours now and not a single FC, hiccup, reboot, or freeze....

9 stars out of 10!... The only reason I did not give it 10 out of 10 is because if I did, I'd sound like a fanboy.... LOL...

Seriously, this ROM sets the standard as far as I am concerned....

Anyone having problems syncing facebook?

did you follow the complete instructions? look at the very bottom. i copied this from the site.

Installing ROM:
This Method works for al supported devices.
It is suggested you follow all the steps even if you are coming from previous Fission ROM. If you do not want to perform all wipe steps then at least wipe system.
Pre-Installation Tasks:
You must have root. You can use our One Click Root in this THREAD.
You must have Koush's Bootstrap program for your device. Download from Market or check HERE.
Select the ROM for your device (Droid2, Droid2 WE, DroidX or Droid Pro)
Download and place ROM on SD Card
Open Bootstrap
Tap "Bootstrap Recovery"
Tap "Allow" if asked to grant SU Persmission
Tap "OK' on "Success" screen
Tap "Reboot Recovery"
You will be booted into Recovery
Use Volume up/down keys to navigate through menu. Press Camera button to Confirm selection. Power button to back up to last menu.
Create Backup - "backup and restore" then select what you want to do
Back out to main menu
Wipe Cache
Wipe Data
Mount System - Screen will read "UNMOUNT /SYSTEM" when mounted
Mount Data - Screen will read "UNMOUNT /DATA" when mounted
Back out to Manin Menu
Install Zip From SD Card
Choose Zip From SD Card
Select your ROM
Yes - Install
Wipe Cache
Wipe Data
Reboot
Back into Android
Perform a Factory Reset
Open App Draw
Tap Settings
Tap Privacy
Tap Factory Reset
Tap Reset Phone
Tap Erase Everything
Your phone will now be rebooted, perform factory reset and then reboot itself when completed.
Activate phone when prompted.
Enjoy!
You may install ROM by not wiping anything and not peform a Factory Reset. You will run into a few problems though. One will be battery manager may force close and Market Facebook App will not sync correctly with contacts.
Please do not ask if doing it another way is good. These are the instructions for a proper clean install and we will only accept bug reports if you followed the above instructions.

Ah. I saw about doing a factory reset but assumed it was just overkill. I did everything else to a T tho. ugh time to reset my phone after restoring it all lol thanks big time. I didn't notice that tidbit about stuff not working. I even restored the facebook account thing with ti but it still wouldn't let me add an account to it.

Wow I just installed Apex on Thursday night, and now a new ROM to try!

A few questions.

1. It looks like the install is the same as Apex, but did you all have to use the patch that was mentioned on their website? If so, maybe I should wait for an updated ROM?

2. Any problems with blue tooth pairing? This is important to me as I use it in my Acura every day.

3. What is the quickest way to restore all my apps? With TIBU? I have it, but never used it for backing up. Or must I reinstall all my apps fresh from the Android Market? If you backup and restore with TIBU, is that considered clean? I would think not, but just curious.

4. Are any of you using LPP with this? Or just running it with the default launcher.

That's all I can think of for now. Thanks!

For those using this you may want to consider something different:

Droid Life Forum • View topic - Forum Locked.

In unsurprising news of the day, Team Defuse has defused. If this Fission ROM actually continues on in the future, you will have to find support for it at another forum.

I apologize to any of our readers who have flashed it hoping it would be on your phone for a long period of time.

I highly recommend ApeX ROM: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1149

Everyone have a beer and a smile now!

their was lots of drama on the IRC last night. but all i care about is that i have a solid rom on my phone.

there is another thread here [ROM]Fission Vanilla 1.2 - DroidX - xda-developers

OK thanks will do!

So if I download it from the link you posted in post #1, I do not need to use the update they talked about?

Ok cool, may give this a shot as soon as I can. Figures this comes out a few days after I install Apex.

Fresh from the market is cool, just takes so long to tweak everything afterwards back to your liking!

How do I turn off the overclocking starting on boot? I never turned it on but it does start overclocking on boot and I'd like to disable the auto-start.

its part of the extras in the fission folder on the sd card. i did not use it since i am using jrummys app to overclock. just remember you need to mound system when flashing anything in the extras. and if doing multiple extras mount system before each one.

Really? Mine doesn't.

The options in there are for adding items and for different overclocking settings, there is nothing there to disable it at boot.

All I did was rename the install-recovery.sh file in system/etc and it no longer starts on boot. I just use gscript to run the insmod command when I boot up the phone, it takes 1 click.

Yeah I knew it was included in the rom. I thought he was saying his was oc'ing auto without him doing anything. I have jrummy's app also with no need for that.

FWIW, I had no issues restoring apps with data on this rom... maybe some folks will be just as lucky.
