Root Fission V1.2 is now available

Just installed, was on rubiX Focused v1.0. I liked it, just wanted to try something new.

I really like the folder they added with the DX Camera, Gallery, Music, etc. Makes it a lot easier to use some of the apps that Motorola got right with the stock DX. Especially Camera with 8MP, 720P, and Panorama. And Music with the lockscreen controls.

I installed this via ROM Manager and had some ApeX. I will have to load fresh again tonight have had to many lockups and reboots.

I followed the directions to A T and got stuck on the M logo. Flashing SBF now. Questions:
After actually doing the install I'm supposed to follow these directions:
Wipe Cache
Wipe Data
Reboot ---------------------what does
Back into Android---------------this
Perform a Factory Reset---------mean??
Open App Draw
Tap Settings
Tap Privacy
Tap Factory Reset
Tap Reset Phone
Tap Erase Everything
Obviously I know how to reboot but the next few lines are confusing and I'm pretty sure this is where things went south. Also do I need to be on a certain version of 2.2 for this. I installed it from the orig leak. 2.3.9 (ya ya I know I should have had 2.3.15 anyway.)

installing from an ApeX build. loved apex. but if some are saying this is faster, that is where I will end up if functionality is similar. results to follow.

Update:
- r2d2 notifications? sweet.
- camera? way better functionality. UI is great.
- back button? sometimes takes 2 clicks to register when in 'files' app.
- "essential_apps" folder? not on my install.
- quadrant standard? 1483 at 1.0GHz, but video test is slightly stretched length-wise.
- fast? yeah. faster than apex? tbd.

I got stuck at the M logo after the Factory Reset through Settings, etc. as well. Did a battery pull and powered on again and it worked fine.

Tried to install this ROM twice. Followed instructions exactly, now stuck at M logo for the second time...Geez! Pain in the ash!

Same here, but I had to try it a third time. I have no idea what's going wrong. I have to restore my backup to use the phone afterward. I really enjoyed 1.1 T4.

So Tom, if I install this ROM I won't need that update for the Droid X correct? Sorry just wanted to double check.

How's this ROM running for you? Any issues to report on so far?

Thanks!

P.S. Should I sbf first? Or don't bother?

i would do the sbf to get the new kernel and baseband anyways. ;)

After the SBF I did the OTA (was very reluctant for some reason) and attempted it again. Works flawlessly now and is super fast. I tried to flash the 1200 oc (mounted system) and it froze up at reboot. My device couldn't handle it before but I decided to give it a shot. Anyway flashed the 1100 next and its working nice :)

Anyone who is seeing lock-ups may want to install again; I haven't had a single hiccup and am loving this rom.

Also, I am running on the original kernal/baseband and am overclocked to 1.4 getting 1800's in quadrant on this.

Wow, finally got root back last night and installed this rom. A lot of people have commented on other roms saying that they're very "snappy and quick" to which I didn't have the same luck. Well I can say that this rom is very very quick. Must have been all of the factory resets and data wipes multiple times. Only gripes: does anyone know where I can get the stock mt keyboard for the X as well as whatever I need for the speech-to-text to work? Not a fan of the standard android keyboard. Thanks in advance!

There should be a new folder on your SDcard called Fission. In it you will find some options that were removed, such as the standard X kb.

I still get stuck at the M logo, no matter how many times I do this. I've downloaded three different times, rebooted after installing as stated, everything. I still get stuck at the M logo. This is becoming too frustrating. I think I'll move on to a different ROM. It's a pity, as I really enjoyed 1.1.

Anyone have any luck installing custom themes on here? Rom is super fast for me right now, but would really like one of Fab's themes on here

you will need to use a theme designed for this rom. only 2 themes so far for the DX on their site Themes: We do not take any responsibility in these themes working on your device

or the one i provided earlier in this thread. http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...fission-v1-2-now-available-2.html#post1793314

there is also a kangerade blue http://forum.droid-life.com/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=1318 and a revision theme floating around for this rom. but you have to use one ported for this rom. also remember to mount system when applying the themes.

Thanks. I think I'll use yours. BTW I know I've seen it named here and there, but what is that skin on your launcher pro at the bottom that just has the words?

How long are you waiting?

Took mine well over 5 minutes to boot the first time, sitting at the M logo.

Ok guess I will shoot for that. Not sure when I will have time, maybe Friday or Saturday night. :(

So the link I posted in my last post is the correct file to flash this ROM correct? No extra updates need to be installed outside of that right Tom?

By the way, what is the new kernel and baseband numbers when you flash the sbf file?

Thanks!
