Fix for signal strenth on the horizon (FOR MARCH!!)

That's good and informative article from anandtech. I think this explains why majority of Gnex user reviews on VZW is positive. Most of them are probably first time LTE phone users and have no other LTE phone to compare dBm levels.

I had other lte phones and if you read it says the other lte phones are showing evdo where as in ics and the nexus it shows lte dbm which is why many in these forums are saying dbm is worse than other lte phones they had. Displaying two different signals.

That's my understanding from that article too.:)

I was reading through some of the reviews today and I did find it odd that very few reviewers mention the signal issue. First thought was that many people actually composing the review actually received their device from ordering directly from Verizon.....and maybe those devices were slightly "updated" from those in the store that were sitting there for days/weeks because of delays. But likely not.. Tin foil hat off...

Interesting article about the signal issues. It does explain why people are seeing similar speeds as other LTE phones even with very low signal readings. I was never aware that other phones didn't show actual LTE dBm.

Only problem is that I am still seeing poorer signal when on CDMA only than I do on other phones and my voice connection is not nearly as stable. I hope that we get a true fix and not a placebo.

I was talking to the VZW store rep, complaining that I couldn't tell the difference between a email and text message. He said we would see a update being push very soon. He said it will fix most of the bugs that are being complained about.

He admitted that Verizon didn't have enough 4g towers and that's why were having building signal penetration and the bouncing between 3 & 4g. He also said that Verizon make a mistake by shutting down a bunch of older cell sites.

The other comment was that next year would bring a large amount of 4g cell sites on line and we would see a vast improvement.

Hard to tell if it was BS or not...

It's funny how about a few weeks ago none of these reps know anything about a Galaxy Nexus, now they are all experts on bug fixes, towers, and 4G stuff.
