Root Fixed bobZ gps!!!!

when i flashed paranoid over aokp everything started crashing like crazy. only things i can think of that don't work on my phone now is 1080p video and vibration on incoming calls. 4-22 with all the fixes and paranoid romless. i sent you a pm swainsmith82

Yeah I thought it might have some problems because of the framework. So you're officially sticking ith 4-22 now for now? Yeah Im staying on 5/21 for now I don't use front video hardly ever and other than that I'm sitting with the same issues as you. I really want to get 1080p fixed because I do record mad videos of my son and vibrate working for when I'm at work. Vibrate might be somewhere in the build prop or lib I think

I tried using Navigation today. It would lock on, but not stay locked on. Anyone else having that problem? It'd lapse for up to a minute. According to Navigation, I would teleport across town.

Lol try putting the stock version F gps.conf.. It's by far the most accurate..

Tried this out using both methods (flash and manual) and I also went as far as to replace the GPS.conf file with the stock conf file. While this "fix" did make the GPS a bit more accurate than bobz's cm gps, it's not a true fix. The GPS indicator was about two city blocks off from my true location, and that was while utilizing all location access settings. When I tried to use standalone GPS, the cursor was jumping all over the map, which gives me the impression that it's still using towers to find location-not true GPS. While this might work for some, it won't fly when you're lost and actually need GPS. I appreciate your hard work, and I realize that you put weeks of effort into this, but I think any "fixes"should be field-tested before it's posted as such. We've already went through that fiasco of the A-gps fix, and all the countless headaches that must have created; at least for me it did. Finally, just to make my point I'm back on stock using standalone GPS, and the cursor follows me on the map as I'm walking down the sidewalk. THAT'S 100% accurate. It shouldn't have to depend on network or Wi-Fi location.

Well it seems only a few have the problem you're facing. I have no issues what so ever.. I get accuracy within 5 meters and a lock within seconds. It follows me all over the map walking or driving. So it is fixed for me and many others. Some people though have only had luck with it after flashing johnnys paranoid port over cm10. Not sure if that's what you want to do but it's your phone your option. I appreciate your feedback and remember everyone does their own tweaking which will explain different results.

You need to take into account that the area you are in will account for the accuracy. When I am in downtown Boston, in BobZ, I can get a lock, albeit a slow lock, on GPS. When I'm in my hometown in a more rural section of MA, I get no lock whatsoever with GPS. I think in more populated areas with more people and more towers the lock will work regardless of how effed up the GPS is internally, and when you get to an area with fewer towers, i.e. more rural areas, you get to see the GPS's true colors.

I would be shocked if this is a "fix". We jumped the gun on aGPS, and in the process confused a whole sh*t load of people. I am going to give this a shot when I get home, keeping expectations very low. I'll post the results. Fingers crossed, would love to believe that this actually works.

I totally get it. I haven't had but two people I believe say it didn't work and I think one of them figured it out. I don't even have to use wifi to lock. I drove around downtown Dallas and some of the suburbs yesterday and didn't have a single issue. I hope it works out.. I know how important it is to you, let me know...

I tried it over jhonny's paranoid (which i flashed over bobz's) also, since it was stated earlier in this thread that that rom fixes a lot of cm problems. I flashed it over bobz's cm by itself also only to come up with the same results. Do you still get a GPS lock with standalone GPS? Because it was somewhat accurate (not 100%) when I had all location options checked, but once I tried standalone GPS the cursor was all over the place. Also in the Bronx it was more accurate than it was by coney island. Obviously the Bronx is more populated than coney island, therefore more towers and Wi-Fi hotspots, which would explain the increased accuracy.

The configuration files for assisted gps are just that assisted.. This is the default lib file that actually allows it to communicate with the satellites. The AGPS didn't fix before because this file was wrong...

Only difference I got from stand alone was it took three seconds longer to get a lock and accuracy went down four meters. Agps is information downloaded so in the FUTURE you can get a faster lock. The information only lasts for a few days before the system has to re-download new data. I even have chrome asking to access my location again..right after I log in and get the gps target in the corner..

GPS locks on flawlessly now thank you. Also is the sensor for the magnetic field corrupted on my phone? cause west is showing as north and doesn't seem to turn much. Could using magnets help it become unstuck?
