Help FLAC Support

SmallTock

Newbie
I am an audio professional and would largely appreciate any help with this. I don't typically settle for mp3 quality and dont want to start now. The droid bionic doesnt come with flac capabilities...i learned this pretty quickly. However, applications designed to provide their own flac support also tended to not recognize flac files. I tried a couple paid and a couple free but none would do the trick. Any clue bow i could solve this? Do i need to root and install a new rom? If so, perhaps a video tutorial? I'm fairly new to android, so I'm not sure why/how people obtain root access or what they do with it.

While I haven't been able to try it myself, FLAC support is apparently native to Android 3.x and 4.x so it should become available to all native audio apps once the Bionic is upgraded to ICS...

I say wait for ice cream sandwich update, which the DROID bionic should be getting soon. It will finally have native FLAC support then.

It looks like all ICS is waiting for is Verizon to get off their butts and push it out.

I understand. However, the benefits of the cyanogen project interest me. Especially the bit about including a free wifi tethering tool so that I don't have to pay an extra fee. Incognito mode is neat as well, and the rest is small stuff IMO.
