Flash sites to look forward to???

Any reason NetFlix instant watch selections won't work after we get Flash?

That would be high on my list.

The only way that hulu would know how to block a phone is by the user agent string sent by the browser and / or flash itself. The browser part is easy to circumvent but I can't think of a way to get around flash reporting the user's OS. :(

Yeah, its been really frustrating. I have Flash, and Firefox, and all the Flash based sites I want to use, I have full access. But for actually using it, nothing works:

XM Radio - I can navigate all the way up to the player, but the Flash "Player" is not supported.

Sling - I can navigate to my Slingbox on via web, and have Firefox browser, but my "OS" is not supported (plug-in needed).

Hulu - Can navigate up to the videos, but playback was not watchable, now, being prompted to upgrade to higher version of Flash (maybe in preparation of mobile devices getting 10.x?)

Gametap (Karate Champ)- no "Numberpad Enter" key to start game?

Damn that sucks. I'll see what I can find out about hacking the flash player to report a different OS (I'm actually a flash developer) but I really cant think of a way to do this :(

If I find anything I'll post it and who knows but maybe it could be applicable to your N900 too. But chances are slim I will find anything.

If the ability to disable Flash on Android is not incorporated I will weep a thousand tears. I could only imagine the flash-supported advertising onslaught.

The browser reporting itself as mobile vs. desktop could be it. I created a gametap account last night, thru the 900, but couldn' get Karate Champ to even start. When I logged in w/ my PC, I had to install a bunch of plugins...same with sling now that I think about it.

Someone has an app in testing or dev, to allow choice of browser reporting as mobile or PC, for the 900. I'll post up if it makes a difference. You guys may run into the same issues.

Yeah I'd be really surprised if you found a way around it as the Flash plugin itself can report the operating system of the user independently of what the browser is reporting. It's possible that hulu is only checking the browser user-agent string, but I doubt it.

Anywho, good luck, be curious as to your results.

Hopefully, Hulu. Definitely ESPN360, SouthParkStudios, CBS (CSI), Fox (House, Lie To Me), etc etc...

I'm going to be completely bummed if Hulu doesn't end up working. I have WAY too many boring nights at work and it would help pass the time so easily.

How is that ignorant? Flash has more security holes than Windows. Show me a useful flash based site.

With a statement like that I realize I shouldn't argue with you, you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about and wouldn't understand if I explained it.

Any one of a thousand sites I couldn't access via iPod Touch or any other mobile browser. Annoying flash has taken THIS long to release

Hulu blocked access from the ps3 so im pretty sure they will block access for smartphones. Of course I could be wrong, It's been awhile since I have tried Hulu on the ps3. It sucked because Hulu rocked on the ps3.

I'm looking forward to the IGN.com video page and a netflix app would be nice. I'm not sure if that uses flash or not.

Hmm..might wanna check it. There were some sites that required Flash that just didn't work on PS3 until after an update that came out last month or so. Check for the update on your Settings menu to see if you're up to date, and give her a go.

...And hopefully either Hava or Slingbox will work after that

Again, even with full Flash and Firefox support right now (w/n900), sling.com says it only supports Windows or MAC "desktop OS". There are some plugins which need to be installed which do not get pushed out when connecting, even though I can navigae up to the "sling player".

This is one of those times I'm actually rooting for the phrase, "there's an app for that".
