I was planning on getting my phone flashed to metro and it occured in my mind that my charger port is messed up. You have to hold the cord on your own. Will i need the port to work correctly to have the phone flashed?

yes you will need a computer that has cdma workshop and it will need to communicate with your phone somehow.
