Root Flashed CM6, now no Google contacts??

SO I flashed CM6, and love it, but why did it clear all my contacts? I even lost the ones that were synched to my GAccount. Funny thing is the direct dial icons I had on my GoLaucher backup still dial, just not in the contacts area.

Check your contacts in you gmail from a pc, if all is well there, resync from your phone.

Funky. The synch from GO Contacts picked everything up fine, just the CM that won't. Got em back by exporting from GO then importing in CM. The other thing is that it reads the SD fine, but when I connect the USB, Windows does not see the phone. Connection notification sounds, but it does not see it on the other end.

weird, you are enabling usb storage when you're trying to connect to the pc?

Did you install Gapps? Tho I think when I flashed cm6 w/o gapps it still sync'd my contacts lol

okay lets clear this up.

1, contacts WONT sync without google apps installed. (duh)
2, it sounds like you didnt flash cm6 correctly. the problems you are having all point to parts of your old os being left on there.
3, wipe and re flash and install gapps. add gmail account and then contacts are synced.
4, CyanogenMod doesnt sync your contacts (??) where you got that idea is beyond me, google apps does that. so cm6 cant be causing that problem lol.

Yea I know that, but I think when I flashed cm6 mine..... nm no it didnt my wife txt'd me is what it was lol, sorry :)

:) no harm no foul

edit: a lot of issues people have are because they are not wiping things first. so thats usually my first suggestion. do a full wipe and retry. and if that dont work, il even suggest it again lmao.

I only used "CM6" as a convenient pronoun, in reference to the overall ROM flash. Please don't think I meant any offense to the work that you, Issac, or anyone involved with CM6.
 
i have had no problems mounting usb on either rom. actually i did once because the host pc didnt have the drivers and cm6 or 7 don't auto install them. restored a stock backup and installed drivers works now.
on windows at least. no luck on crapples.

I'm unable to mount usb with CM6. It shows up on my computer as a removable disk and when i click the drive it tells me to insert a disk. Is is possible to use another stock phone to pull the drivers to run my phone? My wife has the same phone and won't even let me root it.

you are enabling USB storage from you phone right??? Stupid ? I know but we all tend to forget the simplest things when we're irritated lol
 
yea those too, but I mean when you plug it up to the computer, check notices, tap on the usb notice n then enable usb storage. It will say sumtin about moving files to you pc bla bla under it, then the lil android dude will pop up with the enable button.
 
are you talking about the little icon that pops up on the bottom bar of the computer? I click on it but don't see "enable usb storage". I can see the device but there is only (stop, properties, and close.) Is this what you are talking about or am i totally lost? Sorry kind of new to all of this.

nah thats just auto play, I'm talking about on your phone when u plug it in, slide the notification bar open n click on the notice for the usb. You have to enable usb storage which basically unmounts the sdcard so your computer can read it.
 
Yeah you were right. Could not feel anymore stupid than right now. It was right there the whole time. I was going through my whole computer and all the settings on my phone and all i had to do was swipe down. Thanks a lot.
