Flashing 2.2 rom

Im rewatching a step and I think I missed a very first step of downloading the rom to my desktop and at this point that I'm now at, I move it root. I'll do some research...

downloading. I'm not sure how I missed the step in the videos where to (and how) to download the rom. I thought the rom manager would pull it in. Luckily it seems you can restart the process without bricking the phone (so far).

You need to download the ROM, and then drag and drop the rom to your sd card

as long as you dont pull the battery when the phone is doing the initial restart, which alot of people do, or pull the cord when flashing odin, which alot of people do as well, its pretty hard to brick

I pulled the cord my first time. But it was pretty easy to get the phone into download mode and flash back to stock.

I actually put the battery cover back on when I saw him handling his with the battery exposed. Not sure why naked was the default option. My phone's doing all sorts of stuff now. No errors though which is good. This is my best linux experience so far. Very forgiving...

AT&T screen still on. voodoo voices on.. ooooh, lagfix screen is now on. yay! so far this is amazing! So glad I gave this a shot!

Did you remove your sim card?

so far so good. Everything is going to plan. The only hiccup was getting the rom working and I probably screwed that up.

edit: im now at screen it seems. I seem to be at environment. About phone says 2.2. The launcherpro rollerdex app screen seems to be stock for 2.2. Going to see if flash works...

so far web navigation seems a lot slower but it may be the "learning stages" where every new setting is being saved to memory. I just pulled up a page that I couldn't previously view the video of and....

I am now officially running 2.2 cognition and flash is working! I have no idea how the rest of my phone is working a as a phone, game console, web browser etc, but so far its doing what I was looking for it to do! =)

so far so awesome. I'm so glad I did this! Quadrant score is 1544 and sits at the top =P Can toss game I was playing now plays perfectly. All I can say is "wow"!

My one main concern at this point is that web scrolling is horrible now. Going to have to research a fix for that...

edit: okay scrolling issue doesnt seem to be a problem for every site.

Biggest problem right now is that one of the main flash sites I wanted to be able to view, southparkstudios, the video plays but there is no sound. Seems to be an issue with the video player not the browser. Hope that's curable...

Overall usability is degrading fast. Web browser has strong delay and lag. Auto rotation is now gone. Screenhas lost its snappy response. Will have to go back to stock I'm afraid.

I've heard the phone is near unbrickable

I've heard that this phone is unbrickable.

It's only unbrickable to those who haven't bricked theirs yet. ;)

I have read plenty of threads where people have tried all available solutions and not been able to unbrick, and have had to resort to a warranty exchange (and hoping Samsung won't notice they hacked their phone).

decided since I had a few hiccups last night that I'd try again. I'm at the voodoo voices right now and have my fingers crossed that this flashes clean this time. I highly doubt all the problems I had today were the roms fault.

Maybe this is the step I missed. I'm moving my backup files back to the phone and it's quite a transfer. Sitting at 3 hours right now. It's obviously all of my media files. I HAD to have skipped this step, and maybe in doing so some non-media important files didn't get transfered.

okay interesting, during the titanium restore he says to do one thing but the text on the screen corrects him. i wonder if I did the wrong sort of restore last night. Anyone following these videos should be aware of this and check my followups to see if I don't have the same problems after reading the correction versus listening to the walkthrough.

thought i was having the same sound problem but seems to be working... ill update tomorrow night about how my experience over the next 24 hours goes!
