Root Flashing kernels

Hey, I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread.. I was wondering is it okay to flash the anthrax kernel or any other kernel without doing anything before hand? I mean do I have to wipe partitions or do a factory reset? I have the mobster rom, rooted, 4ext, and s-off. I tried playing with a playstation emulator but it crashes after the title scree so I think maybe overclocking might get it working. Thank you for any help guys

Generally speaking you should probably just wipe cache and dalvik

You should always wipe cache and dalvik cache.

If you want a good kernel I recommend ButterToast kernel. It is a GPL compliant kernel based off of anthrax.
There is also mac kernel, jmz kernel, and power kernel to name a few. There are more but I forgot. ButterToast is my personal favorite though. It also has undervolting so does anthrax which can help save battery. :)
 
Which emulator and game are you trying to use?

i use fpse and i havent come across any problems yet.. Except for FF7. It lags at certain spots in the fights if your using the software decoder. I had to turn on the HW decoder to get it to run smoothly.

If you think it may be the game ROM thats bad, Try it on an emulator for the PC.
 
I have epsxe, trying Tekken 3. Good point. I downloaded it from coolrom, it's in 7z format. Can this phone run that game?
 
i am not sure if the phone can handle it, but i see no reason it wont work on this phone. I have underclocked my cpu to 700mhz and ps1 games still run as good as they would on a playstation.

i know you have to unzip the file though. when you try to load the game, it should be 2 seperate files in 1 folder. a .bin and a .cue. doesnt matter which you load. they both do the same thing. i honestly dont even think the .cue is needed.

I have never tried that emulator out on the phone either, so it could even be that emulator wont play that game for some reason. i always have used fpse and have played at least 20 games through it without any problems. as long as the game is unzipped :p

if you need a free unzipper for windows.. i use peazip. it can handle almost any format zips and works great. been using it for years.

Edit: Downloading tekken 3 from coolrom now to test it on fpse.. I will update when its done.

Edit2: Seems to work great on my phone. No lags at all using fpse. It turns out when you unzip this game.. theres 4 files. 1 .cue and 3 .bin files. Just load (Track1) and youll be set as long as that emulator works with this game.

Anyone had success with flashing any kernels, with a jellybean rom. I was looking at trying Anthrax and Buttered toast. But would try any of these also. mac kernel, jmz kernel, and power kernel. Anyone have luck with any of these kernels. New to this whole process, and trying to learn how to flash roms...etc.

Nope, they still aren't compatible with 4.2.2 yet last I heard. :(
