Root Flashing newest radio? Worth the hassle?

I know if it goes wrong it could result in brick, what improvements are there from 5.11.05.27 and what are the chances it could go tits up?

theres always a risk, bad radio flash can result in brick
any reason why you want to flash it
new radio doesnt mean best, its new for the rom its bundled with as that radio is likely to be optimised for a specific carrier

Flashing radios is painless, it takes about 30 seconds to get done. Depending on what ROM you're running, certain radio versions suit better (like 30_2 suits better with CM7 and 05.27 suits better with Oxygen, etc) the most noticeable effect on different radios in different roms is battery life.

No reason other than may be an improvement over what I have. I think im just gonna leave it as is for the time being :)

Try a few different ril's, see if that improves things for you.

Dont even know where to find ril's :o is that different to kernels?

Not that I had a problem anyway. Phone was struggling to find a signal at work (could only ever get GPRS there) and switch back to HSPA when available, I put it down to the rom being a work in progress.

Since updating to GV 1.6 not had any problems so far.
