Help Flashing official firmware via Odin question

Am I right in thinking that flashing an official Samsung rom via Odin without rooting doesn't void warranty? So if something went wrong after I flashed say, a stable ice cream sandwich rom (once they're out), I wouldn't be refused service if I had to send the phone in?

I've recently realised that even though my phone is sim free it runs carphone warehouse (cpw) branded firmwares so they're probably going to take forever to release ics! :(

Thanks :)

Here is the problem any firmware even if its official, they may not like it if it is not their own release.

If you did end up rooting its easy too unroot, or just back everything up do a factory reset(which sometimes they ask you to do if sent in for a service). Once you got phone back just reinstall
