Root Flashlight notification updates

Hi all!
I don't know if this can be done, but I would like to know if the camera LED can be used as a notification light, my X is not rooted, but I will root it if it can be done.

Why would you want the camera flash to function as the notification light? There are apps in the market that can allow you to do this. One is called "LED flash and vibrate notifier". It's a paid app(.99cents)but i'm sure you can find a few free ones floating around the market.

yeah camera as a notification alert, is kind of not a good thing to have, for one, as met states, it will be very bright, and god forbid you be in the movies and that thing goes off, or asleep (cause i'd be pissed!)

Thanks for the replies,
I realize it would be obnoxious, but the speaker is blown on it(poppy crackle sounds) so I am trying to find the better alternative for it to get my attention.
I will try the app.

I can understand that but let me ask you this. What are ya gonna do when yer phone isn't within your visual range? I:E in your pocket?

Unless it is in my pocket and vibrates, I will either miss a call, or a text, or email.

loving it, sometimes the slipperyness of the phone can be annoying, as i dont have the funds for a case, but other than that, its great.
