Root For the Crazies out there: Super low volt kernel test

Remember I said the ultimate test would be if a kernel can improve the battery life of MY phone?

Given the current rate of drain, I should hit 30 hours. Previously, I could only get 10 hours with light usage.

Current rate = 20% drain @ 6 hours, light usage but in poor signal area.

I will report back in a few days. Love your work, man. Thanks.

Q: Should I turn off Autokiller Mem Optimizer? And should I make sure SetCPU does NOT run?

(I think yes to the latter--don't run it--but not sure about the former)

Battery life has been great..Phone has been off charger for about 24 hours now and only at 50%...I've had wifi running and everything for the last 6 or so hours.

The only thing I have noticed on my phone is that the music kinda skips when I'm playing it, not a huge deal because my phone isn't used for playing music normally..I plan on testing it a bit more but last night, using poweramp and setCPU on conservative, songs were definitely skipping. When I had setCPU set for interactive, there was no problem whatsoever. I don't know if anyone else is having an issue like this but figured I would report how my phone is reacting.

Also, when receiving a call..the music kinda skips when setCPU is set on conservative..haven't tested interactive yet but I have a feeling it will yield the same results..I'll report back once I've tried a couple other music players, etc too

yeah setcpu is definetly not needed. autokiller is fine if used correctly...really you should experiment with it off...then starting with the lowest setting and moving up til you find your sweet spot.

also minifreemanager in market is a good way to tweak your settings

Well adrynalyne I tried test2 but same results as ul. Have out of no where browser closes, not FC's just browser shuts down. So now trying out just plain lv see if I have same problems there. I think my phone just wants 1300 at all times :)

BUMP :)

Amazing work Adrynalyne, been running for 3 days now, no issues whatsoever and battery life has been really good. unplugged from my car when I got to work at 8:15, heavy use, email, text, web, andchat, and when I left work at 6:00 only down to 68%.

If you make more kernels, I would be more then happy to run those. :D

finally have some down time to configure my phone, going to give this a try and report back in a few days or so

Adryn, Im so hit and miss on irc figured I'd ask you here publicly if you are planning to test the lower voltage limit of your kernel. I believe nemesis is down -100mv from stock now 100-800Mhz matching your comavolt, any willingness to try to drop the steps another increment?

Sure. I mean, whats the worst that could happen :D

No disrespect, but do not flash the 1/1 voodoo rom. me and at least one other person got into a boot-loop and had to fix.
Thanks for the warning. I woke up and saw the zip on irc and DL'd it. Then I saw this thread before going into CWM. So it was like insta-breaks. Then I just peeked in irc to see that everyone seems to be pumping the breaks on 1/1
None taken. Thats why its a test.

Hmmm interesting. Maybe we found the bottom end that quickly. Boot loop seems odd considering the cpu boots at 800Mhz where you had known and stable values, unless its getting stuck in the loop in the before the cpu reaches 800Mhz to boot?

Anyway, 2 thoughts for you adryn.
1] I believe both nemesis and geeknik took -100mv off the midrange 2 steps so you might wanna look there
2] On the top end geeknik was at -75mv and I wanna remember back in October when HeX was making kernels he took -100mv off his 1066Mhz kernel top step. Although equally true if I remember correctly not everyone could run that stably. Also geeknik reported hit and miss issues when he dropped the top step to 1200mv so he never officially used that as a value. Again some phone can handle uv better than others just as some handle oc better than others.
So even if -100mv is the bottom for the bottom you might still be able to drop the middle and top a tad more

I peeked in irc looks like maybe adryn said it was voodoo related and not just the uv? Going to sledging here in a bit but if a test2 comes out later I'll jump on it.

I also see adryn you pulled the file.

Come to think of it all the links in the OP are test2's so thats usually where you have the success anyway ;)
