If I used electric, I'd go with a German mfg.
 
I use this one when I don't have time for a razor. It works really well on short hair but lacks if your beard is long. The attached trimmer doesn't work very well either lol. Amazon.com: Panasonic ES8243A Arc IV Nano Men's Wet/Dry Rechargeable Shaver, Blue: Health & Personal Care But that aside, if you have a trimmer or only plan on shaving wet/dry stubble, it does a great job with no irritation. For trimming I use the braun. It doesn't have as close as a shave as the Panasonic but it has a fantastic trimmer to get a nice stubble look. Amazon.com: Braun Series 5 (8995) Men's Shaver: Health & Personal Care So I haven't found one that does everything perfectly, but the Panasonic has a fantastic short wet/dry shave with no irritation and the Brauns are great at trimming but not as close of a shave and little irritation like the Panasonic, especially for the price. I'd get one at Bed Bath and Beyond. That way if you don't like it, they are really good about returns.
 
Straight edge would defiantly be the manliest, or an arrowhead... but the quad blades they sell are good too.. not only for manliness... you will never get that close of a shave with an electric. I do have a really old electric I use for days I am not going anywhere but dont want to look like I have a dirty porn-stach.
 
Personally I have always preferred Norelco. I used one for years to shave in the car everyday on the way to work or everyday when I was on deployment. I tried a bunch but the norelco always gave me the best shave. Just don't go cheap. If you spend around $100 for a good razor it will be good for you for years. I rarely use it anymore but my Norelco I have had since 2002 still works great and all I have ever done is get new blades about every year with daily use.
 
Does anyone have one of those self cleaning electric razors? Do they actually work or is it a bad gimmick?
 
I use the Gillete Fusion right now for a razor but it's a pain in the ass to have to keep shaving every other day (my facial hair grows very quickly) which explains why I'm looking for an electric shaver to do a quick shave when I don't have the time to sit there in front of a mirror and go the manual route.
 
I have one. It's a convenient and a gimmick at the same time. While it does clean the shaver, it's easy to take it apart and clean it manually too. So it does a decent job but it really isn't that necessary.

Would you recommend getting one of the self-cleaning ones? From the one you linked previously they had a variety of selections that were similar that others have purchased and Amazon.com: Panasonic ES8249K Arc IV Nano Vortex Wet/Dry Rechargeable Shaving System, Black: Health & Personal Care was one of them.
 
It's a nice feeling having a fresh smelling shaver cleaned in alcohol at the click of a button.

But from my experience, taking off the foil and doing a quick rinse does just as good a job.

You also have to keep purchasing the alcohol cartridges that go into the machine. So you have the extra expensive of the initial purchase and the on going purchases of the alcohol cartridges. That's not that expensive though. Each cartridge lasts about a month or so depending on how clean you want your cartridge to remain. 3 packs at a store are like $15.

IMO it's nice if you like techy convenient things and don't care about saving some money but it's not like you can't clean it just as well without it.

Are those electric triple straight blade razors better then the 3 circle razors?

I ended up buying the same one you have James. I had a $25 off coupon from Best Buy and I happened to see it there on the shelf so I bought it. I sure hope this thing is worth it LOL.

Let me know how it goes! The claim on electric razors is that they have to get used to your face (or your hairs have to get used to the razor). So the more you use it the closer the shave becomes - especially on the neck.

It's a wet/dry shaver so you can use it with lectric shave if you want. Works well for me with the lectric shave (or the walgreens brand).

I have sensitive skin so I'll probably have to check out my options lol.
 
I use an electric razor. Quick 10-15 seconds in the morning. I can't develop a full beard. Just a moustache and just small patches of hair here and there. A regular razor would just be overkill.

I suppose you're lucky. 3-4 days of no shaving for me = Billy Mays beard lol!
 
The manliest of men don't shave or shave that much ;)!! Beards, Goatees and Handlebars for the win!!

However just to keep my sideys tidy, I have this:
