For those already on android, what apps to put on the evo first?

Useless site. Constantly errors out. No matter what I do, if I log in and go to an app it crashes with an error (server).

Maybe the site is down for now because I never had a problem with the site. Added over 60 apps to my profile with no problems what so ever.

I went through like the first 5 pages in this forum and didnt see anything related..

C'mon dude, that thread is currently lingering on Page 2.

AND it's also highlighted in the "All Forum Specific Guidelines, Links. Please read first"thread.

what a *****.. that explains nothing about how its used

Let me google that for you

C'mon man, at least put a little bit of effort forward in finding your own answers to your questions. The rest of us aren't going to spoon-feed you everything.

exactly what the name says

Its true, You can scan any bar code and it will do an internet search for you. You can compare prices, or just get info on stuff. Very cool. Be nice, we could flame the crap out of you for not reading the rules, not using the search button and double posting threads.

I've been getting the error for a week and I just tested it again before I posted (just in case I was wrong). I was not.

It doesn't like my account (and a few others on here) for whatever stupid reason.

I've tried different browsers, different networks, different machines and the only way I can get back in after it bombs out is to erase the cookies. I sent the guy who made it (I think - Uwe) a message (he's on here) but haven't heard anything.

I'd love to use that site, but it's a big POS right now.

Sorry to hear that.

I believe another Android site recently did a rundown of their 5 favorite Android App sites. While AppBrain was among them, there were several other options given. Search for that (either Phandroid, AndroidCentral, or AndroidPolice I think).

Same here. I started using AppBrain recently and haven't had any problem adding multiple apps to my download list.

Okay, so I had read that ATK is a bad thing to have on your phone and it's not something that is necessary to have. Is this true or should I get it? I don't want Sprint's bullshit running in the background of my device but I also don't want to download an app that will do more harm than good and slow down my device.

sorry guys i must have skipped over that post bc i honestly didnt see it at first.. Im getting the http500 error message right now too.. anyhonelse?

its only bad if you set it up wrong, if you just you it to kill pesky apps sometimes (not all of them) it can help, but if you set it up to auto kill apps and you set the list up wrong for the auto-kill then it can cause issues.

Yeah, I was having the same problem. I deleted my account all together, got a new one and now the site seems to be working fine. I think I've got 120 apps on there right now.

Edited my first post to reflect what this thread is about, but I wish i could change the name of the thread to something more repesenting what this thread has become!

I see where Google Voice is mentioned several times, but I don't think it has been emphasized as a must have application. First, Voice is a big step, but worthwhile. The big step is that you are issued a new number for life. You don't absolutely have to have a new Google number, but many features will not be available if you don't get a new Google number.

Sure, it's a pain initially. You have to tell everyone that your number has changed, etc., but you need to treat this as a new number because you have to train your friends and family to call you on this new number. The new Google Voice number aggregates all your phones into one number. Thus, your home number, your work number, your cell number are all used with Voice. If you get a call to your Google Voice number, all your phones ring simultaneously. No forwarding, no multiple voicemail boxes to check.

When you get a Voicemail on your Google Voice, you get a transcript of the message that was left in your Voice mailbox. Also, you can get an email transcript to your email. You can have multiple announcements on your voicemail depending upon who is calling: One for family, one for friends, one for business or everyone else. You can even have an announcement for your girlfriend and another one for your spouse.

Voice is integrated into your Android phone. You can elect to disable your regular text program (suggested) and use only your Voice program for texts. Thus, your voicemail and texts are combined into one list.

There are too many features to list, but here are a few that are cool: When you receive a call on your cell phone and you get home or to work while you are on the call, you simple press * and the call will be transferred to your landline. (The caller doesn't notice.) You can add an extension to your Chrome browser that duplicates the Voice features so you can make long distance calls free (you dial the number in the browser, it calls your landline and when you answer it connects the long distance call). You can also text from your browser and it appears as if you are texting from your phone.

Here are all the features: Features - Google Voice Help

Hope this helps!

Hello Friends,
Speaking of google voice...
if any of you fine folks could send me a Google Voice invite, I'd be indebted to you...
I'd really like to get it for the Evo.

Thank you!

I'm in the same boat as you. I have tried different browsers, different machines. Work, Home, Cellphone connections.

I'm creating a new account and hopefully that solves the problem.

Is there any way I can transfer all the apps from my old iPhone to my new shiny EVO 4G? I'm kidding of course.

But seriously, I will probably have to pay for some of the apps I already bought in the Apple app store on the new Android phone, but so be it. I love the Crosswords app by Stand Alone Inc, and yes, I did pay $9.99 way back for it on the iPhone, but it's a quality program that gets regularly updated. Looks like they have it for Android too, which is great news, but of course I'll have to pay again. Did anyone try Shortyz Crosswords? It's free, just not sure if it's as competent, and users say it downloads stuff automatically which I really don't like.

Hello all,

I think it might be fun if we all share our AppBrain app lists. I made one now, before I have the phone. It's actually a fun little experience. Maybe we can also post app recommendations here.
