For those already on android, what apps to put on the evo first?

Is there an Android version of GuitarToolkit? I have it on my iPhone and it's awesome but I can't find a similar one for Android.

Just did this quick search to help you get started. I don't play guitar nor have any experience with these apps.

So once I do get the phone, I assume it's easy to install them from AppBrain? Do I have to connect my phone to my computer with the USB cable?
You need to install the appbrian app from the google app marketplace (on your phone) and then you can se it to install the apps you have told it to on the website. BTW all these apps are available in the marketplace to install from there too so you dont HAVE to install appbrain, you can search and install them from the marketplace, appbrain and the 2 other sites just make it easier to find apps, the other 2 places gives you QRcodes to scan on your computer screen to download the apps that way.

Ah, that makes sense. Thank you!

I have a list made too already. But I have lots of extra apps or aps that do the same thing and I need to decide which one I want out of the two. I can just see my whole list buy pick which ones I want to install right? I don't have to insall the whole list right? I don't want to put many on there right away I just want to explore the phone for a while.

you get a list going before you get the phone, so when you get the phone you already have apps to put on and start playing with

Wow lots of apps ... I'm coming from Palm OS (Not WEB.. original Palm :p ) and have yet to find any apps similar to the following:

Agendus: Great Appointment/Contact app all in one (Still no port to android!)
SmartListToGo: (Same people as Doc2Go). Relational database software on your handheld
TealAuto: Great auto app to track mileage, service appts, reminders and even parking meters!
FakeCall: with a flick of the speaker button, and a programable delay, the phone will ring as if you have a call, complete with caller ID. Great for getting away from those who won't stop talking! (I've actually used this on my CFO! )

The rest of my apps are actually rendered useless with a workable browser! hah!
But if anyone can suggest a replacement for any of the above, please post a name.. I've searched but no luck.

There's only one app I plan to have that I've not seen here yet (most I have in my appbrain are already listed). This one is not in Appbrain that I'm aware of, but it's on the author's site:
AI Roboform for Android! (Great password system, works with Android default browser!) RoboForm for Google Android OS

If you use Roboform at home or work it will auto sync as well.

i think you have to accept the app when it trys to install, plus you can hve multiple lists on AppBrain

I literally have like 250 apps I want to install........would it be crazy to try to install them all at once? :P

it down loads them one at a time
can you also post/pm me your list

I have Roboform now I use on my home compuer with I.E. I sign up for alot of contest and I click on my name and it fills in all my info so I don't have to type it all in. Puts my address phone number city state zipcode Female I like it. It stores passwords and when I go to log in it fills in the password. I will like it for our phone. But the phone version only does the login and passwords doesn't let you click the tab to fill out all your info like if your registering for a contest but it still sounds cool to have.

I am looking for an app that can control my ringer profiles.

Coming from a Blackberry i was able to set the ringtones for all my apps like facebook, AIM, etc all in one app.

Is there a good app for that?

thanks

I'm looking for an app that will automatically send my wife a text message approximately 20 minutes before I get home from work (based on GPS/traffic data) with the text message saying "Woman, start my dinner!"

Does such an app exist? ;)

the messaging app exists, and unless your fingers are broken......
there is also the phone, but who uses the phone

I'd rather not text and drive... that is why I'm looking for an automated app. :)

Seriously though, it would be cool to send an automated heads up message based on certain location-based criteria.

voice-to-text will let you keep your eyes on the road and not have to look down every 2 secs to hit letters. and boom goes the dynamite.

True, although like I said, automation is what I'm looking for. No need to even pick up the phone if something is completely automated.

I'm an android noob and I'm getting an EVO this week so I've been reading these forums like crazy. Does anyone know if there's going to be a video slot machine app similar to the Iphone one called "golden vault" for android or if there are any video slots available? Did some searching and couldn't find any but not sure if I'm looking in the right places. Thanks for all the info:D

I never played "The Vault" but Android market and Appbrain.com have lots of video slot machine games.

This is what I have installed on my EVO:

  • Layar - Augmented reality browser, runs really smooth on the EVO
  • NYTimes - news
  • Locale - automate stuff like BT, Wifi, brightness etc depending on conditions
  • OpenWatch - connects with my Sony BT watch and lets me read sms on my watch, call alert and control the music player
  • EStongs File Explorer - File explorer for the SD card
  • Mobile Package Tracker - tracks packages and notifies me when they come to my house
  • Abduction! - Papyjump like game with cows
  • LogMeIn Ignition Beta - remote desktop to my computer
  • Speedtest.net - For when 4G gets here :D
  • Beautiful Silence Widget - Vibrate widget is missing, this fixes it. Besides, I don't want to hold the power button to silence the phone, it might wear out faster.
  • Colorix HD - puzzle game that runs at native rez, and thus looks great
  • TV.com - TV Shows so that I can use that kickstand
  • Google Earth - Smooooth on the EVO!
  • Zenonia - RPG action game with touch controls
  • HotelsByMe - lets me book a hotel from my phone
  • Notepad with Sync - syncs with helipad so that I never lose my notes
  • Google Googles - take a pic and get search results or translation
  • Shopper - scan a barcode and get local and internet prices
  • Yelp - to take pics of what I eat
  • TabbedOut - pay from my phone, whenever they get more locations
  • Pandora - online streaming radio
  • Photobucket - Easiest way to transfer pics to my PC
  • Remember the Milk - to do list
  • Fandango - movie times and trailers
  • eBay - shopping
  • fring - video calling
  • Square - to accept payments for my services
  • Amazon - shopping
  • EasyMoney - checkbook
  • Mint - personal finance
  • Runkeeper free - one day Ill use this
  • aCar - gas mileage and maintenance
  • Pure Calendar widget - shows more appointments than stock and uses less space
  • PicSay - photoshop
  • Live Bookmarks - single folder with all my bookmarks
  • Adobe Reader - pdf
  • Newsrob - google reader rss
  • Facebook - to read about people complaining about stuff
  • Twitter - same as above
  • Car Locator - great UI and works really well at school, sport games, theme parks etc.

And with all those apps installed I still have 229MB available!
