Did you by any chance choose option 4 to wipe data, factory reset your phone? There were 4 options and you should have chosen option 2 to install the update. They were teeny tiny. I had to get out my magnifying glass to read them!
So, I installed it, and it did some uncool things to my phone (most notably making all the icons/widgets disappear off my home screen), so I decided it didn
I do not think you can. Try wiping it from the recovery menu (holding x at startup and pressing the power and camera button when the "!" appears). I read on another forum that there is not a downgrade yet.

That's what I was afraid of. I already tried it from the recovery menu, but no dice.
I've got insurance on the phone, so maybe I'll end up swapping it out for a new one. Hate to do that, though.
Well I feel pretty lucky

Don't feel lucky... I'm just UNLUCKY
As near as I can tell there's only 5 people I've found with the same error as me. Wish I could track down why, but don't have the time.

Just as I figured, my OTA just failed as well with the same "assert failed: apply_patch_check" error.
Calling VZ tomorrow I guess.
Did you actually try to install from the menu options that appeared after clicking on the camera and volume button or stop at that error?
I am getting my email. Maybe you need to open it and reenter password. I had to do that with a few things. But I also did a wipe to get things cleaned out and start the OTA fresher.I don't seem to be getting my gmail either with this update.
LOL. I disagree. I think you just earned some tape for your glasses to go with that pocket protector. You have to turn it over just for asking a question like that -![]()
No I tried to install it from the menu as well. I'll get a new phone tomorrow (er, today I guess, damnit I gotta go to bed!) and all should be fine.
Yeah, but most people that are technologically adept enough to find it necessary to show file extensions understand that naming your file "update.zip.zip" is just silly and there's no reason that Android would need that.![]()
I also got some kind of error message. I went ahead and updated anyway, I believe option 2. The update went fine and all is well. When I hold the x and then camera and volume, I no longer get the error. I actually got a little lost in your posts, so I think you did NOT get the update in. You can wait for the OTA which should be really close, or try the update anyway. Unfortunately I can't recall exactly what my error was, though it may be the same one you had.
i have a problem with mine every time i go to recoery it says with yellow latters that it cant open/cache/recovery/command than i go to apply sdcard update.zip and it says fail need help can some one help me
