FoxFi

Yeap, works gd! Just tried it on my wife's RAZR, I already have my RAZR max rooted so didn't nd fox fi formine, but works gd on wife's phone!

Can anyone help me get the foxfi hotspot to work on my razr maxx? I paid for the app and have Jelly Bean. Use to work before Jelly Bean.

Installed the certificate, created the pattern lock, renamed the network name, and changed password

I get the following message on my Droid Razr Maxx:

Fail to activate hotspot. Fail to enable hotspot. Your phone is not yet supported by foxfi

I now see that it is not supported according to their help section.

I had a slight problem that was on my laptop, not Foxfi. The new update of Foxfi is WAP2 where my older version was WAP. I had to change the setting in my laptop to be able to connect to the "new" Foxfi. Everything is working like it did in the past now.

I am still on the free version and I have been connect for 2 hours now.

There was an update to the app a few days ago, and it does indeed work on the Max with JB now! Have u updated the app and retried? Maybe delete the app and re download it

I have uninstalled both foxfire and pda+, reinstalled both, installed the certificate, renamed the network and password.

I get a message stating my phone is not supported.

I have jb 4.1.2.

I am trying to get the hotspot to run so I can use my ipad without wires.
Hmm, not sure then! I installed the update a few days ago on my wife's phone and it works great! Maybe send the dev an email and see if they will give u some support! Also just in case, the pro version is not a working app, it's just a key to unlock the limits in the free version, u still nd to have the free version installed and that is the one u nd to open up and run

Thanks. I will email the developer. Thanks for helping.

you said you've uninstalled and reinstalled. did you do a Clear Data before you did that? sometimes residual data can get "stuck" and cause a reinstall to function with the settings of the old install.

i'd say try that. go into apps, and clear the data on foxfi, then uninstall it, then go to the play store and reinstall the latest version. might work, might not, you're not really out anything for trying.

personally i'm rooted, i used foxfi back in.... i think it was june last year, before i rooted. but i've been using wifi tether since then, so my knowledge is slightly outdated.

I was getting the same message until I put the network name back to the default, now all is well.

I updated my phone with the Foxfi update and it crashed it. Stuck it on Emergency Dial Screen. Had to do Factory reset. Tried it 3 more times and crashed it everytime. Any ideas? My phone is Droid Razr Maxx.

You did not need to do the factory reset. When you saw that Emergency screen dial window, all you had to do was type in your pin# (the pin you chose when you installed PDANet+) and then hit the new paragraph key and your phone would have became usable. Then you would have wanted to go to the Maxx's security settings and change your security screen unlock to "pattern". HAD YOU set up with pattern in the first place you would never have seen the Emergency Dial screen and then foolishly reset your phone.

The app works just fine with the Razr Maxx!
