So, for those of us on the east coast, the forecast is for some monster storm. The hyperbole from the media is over the top. Apparently, we're all going to die and there will be no traces left of our existence. The big question? What to wear and will there be snacks served? I do know one thing. If Halloween is rained out? I'm eating ALL the candy.

I have nothing to serve for snacks. I have to go get groceries just because I need groceries and I don't want to go to the store because I know it's going to a zoo! UGH. I haven't gotten Halloween candy yet either, that's at Walmart and I am certainly not going there right now!!
If you are serving snacks I will come to your house though :)

Any chance I can get one of you to send me the deed to your property before this great storm wipes you out?

Our GM at the restaurant is already freaking out. We lose power quite easily where we're located. Hopefully it won't be too bad but some estimates have Sandy coming directly at the DC Metro area. Thankfully our apartment has underground lines so we never lose power. :)
Last time when we had Snowmageddon I panicked and just bought a ton of Bagel Bites to get us through. Oh yeah, we had plenty of beer too. :D

I predict it will rain at some point and there will be some wind, too. Oh, and some stuff will happen. Can I forward my resum

I read this:
So, for those of us on the east coast, the forecast is for some sea monster.
Read it several times before I corrected myself :p

:D Save a twix for me ;)

But, I'll bet someone will live tweet the end of the east coast, so there will be *some* sign that you guys were there ;) :p

Its quite breezy in Coastal GA today, and had a pretty solid cloud cover. I think its funny the weather media continually hyping up the storm, even though the most reliable intensity forecast models (I know, reliable and intensity models are kind of an oxymoron) have it weakening between now and landfall. It should still be some pretty crappy weather, but not what they are hyping it to be.

It'll be interesting for sure. I really do imagine it weakening especially because ocean temps are cooling off. Predictions are showing the eye hitting Mid Jersey now; but the scope of the storm is HUGE!

Oh, I fully expect there to be a lot of lost power. And there is always some damage when a hurricane hits the eastern seaboard.

Which makes me wonder why we don't build to a hurricane code like Florida and the Gulf states do. We get at least one every year. Yet the codes don't reflect it. If power cables, alone, were placed underground, a lot of the damage would be mitigated.

I'm just looking forward to possibly not going to work on Tuesday lol

My mom remarked that when she went shopping, everyone was buying water as opposed to milk. Of course, if it were a snow storm, it would be milk. Why do people feel the need to color coordinate their beverage with storm type?

More importantly, what weather event is the color of beer?

I should think any fall storm would qualify as a beer colored storm! The leaves are golden and will be blowing around in the wind and rain. Yup. Beer colored storm. Im'a gonna get my drink on now!! Whoop!
Beer, not piss, thank you very much

I wouldn't fret if I hadn't been hit by the world's worst Derecho over the summer. I have this sinking feeling I'm gonna lose my power. I'm in the country. When we lose power we lose EVERTHING: lights, heat/AC, water, internet. Not fun being thrown back into the world of the 1800's.

I follow Foot's Forecast on Facebook. Those guys are amazingly good at predicting what a storm will do. This one they are calling for some wicked rain and wind from NYC to DC. High tide coinciding with a full moon on Monday during the height of the storm is NOT a good sign.

I hope every stays safe. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
