Free G-Shock Watch

Watch came today! In fact TWO watches came today!!!

Awesome. Did you enter twice or did they just give you a bonus? One for each arm :)

When did you originally send your shipping address? Just curious how long the turnaround is.

Give us a review of the watch and how well it tethers to the phone, when you get a chance.

I saw that someone on the Howard forums also got theirs yesterday, so maybe we'll all be seeing them soon. In fact, I'm out of town at the moment, so maybe mine's waiting for me at home.

Did not enter twice. Got and replied to address email on Oct. 16. Watches came in separate boxes, I assume a shipping room error. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

Nice! I got a notification from UPS that a package from an odd sender will arrive tomorrow. I bet it will be the watch. Can't wait to try it out. I'm curious to see if it will stay synced to my Ford SYNC system and the watch at the same time, or at least be able to switch to each one on its own.

Nothing yet on my end. Just the Facebook PM last week. Guess its all down to when they process it. However they never asked for my shipping address. Guess they assumed my info on the form was the same.

Here's my first impressions:

1. Most of the Bluetooth items are not in the included manual, but on a website BLUETOOTH WATCH - G-SHOCK - CASIO . Click support. There is a quick start PDF, but most of the setup and use items are on an interactive website, not a PDF that can be saved to your phone or computer. :(

2. There are setting on the phone that need attention. Settings>Bluetooth>Settings>Bluetooth Smart Settings. The manual or website makes no mention of these, or if they are mentioned I couldn't find them. :(

3. The Bluetooth connection is strong, to force a "link loss", I had to put the phone in a metal file cabinet, in a different room, about 50 feet away. :)

4. The "link loss" alarm on the watch is very weak. It could easily be missed. :(

5. After a "link loss" the watch and phone are supposed to reconnect (automatically or manually) without having to access the phone's Bluetooth menu. This fails to happen more times than it happens. :(

6. The watch has a "power saving" function that disconnects Bluetooth after about an hour of inactivity (i.e. watch is sitting still), when the watch is moved, it is supposed to reconnect. I've only done this once, it worked. :)

All in all I guess it's OK. I would not have bought this, and would be disappointed if I had, but hey, the price was right! :) It definately won't replace my 23 year old Citizen Aqualand :D divers watch as my daily watch, but, once again the price was right and I can see occasionally using it.

these settings in bluetooth screen, hit menu dots on bottom and a second menu pops up with more settings, >Bluetooth Smart Settings.

The watch is very nice but I also would not have bought this.

Ditto for me. I don't see $180 worth of value here. The features that are practical for my use might be valued at around $100, if that. However, a quick survey of ebay sales of this watch indicate that within the past month or so, they have sold for anywhere between $80 and $220, with the average being about $165. So somebody's buying them.

The bluetooth stuff is just a gimmick and I have no use for it. I do, however, have a use for multiple alarms during a day, as well as vibrate alarms. So I will probably keep it, though there are a lot of things that $165 can buy.

I have not been able to get this watch to sync the phone's time. My phone currently says 9:03 pm, the watch says 4:07 pm. I noticed the following on the PDF: "The watch time setting is adjusted whenever the Commando 4G LTE time setting changes for some reason. The service provided by some local telecommunication providers may not allow correct time adjustment." I tried changing the time settings on the phone: first I disabled the network time and manually set the time forward a few minutes. Then I re-enabled the network time and it reset itself - but it did not set the watch.

I also noticed that there is indeed a Casio G-Shock app in Google Play. However, you can only download it onto a Samsung phone - it won't let me send it to the G'Zone. Maybe someone here can snarf up an .apk with a Samsung phone and share it.

Just got the email from Casio for the shipping info, a little over 2 weeks from the win confirmation. So maybe before Christmas?

That exciting, huh? I haven't worn a watch in years, but I have one coming anyhow. It wil prolly end up on the 'bay to.

I will keep it to use at work. If I think it is worth while, will use it all the time. My biggest concern is it working okay with my Ford SYNC too.

Ya I'm keeping mine too. I would like to show up to my free water sports adventure wearing It.

Now THATs confidence:D

I got mine today. It's nifty but I don't have a lot of use for it. I haven't worn a watch since the 90s. Guess I'll try it out for awhile.

If we're all selling on fleabay, we gotta spread it out so we don't compete with each other...

Thanks to the OP for getting us in on the deal.
