Root Frequently losing app links while using a2sd

I've been rooted and using Myn's Warm 2.2 since January. Shortly after installing it and using it, I got help from Akazabam to start using Darktremor's a2sd. I got a 16gb card class 10 and created a larger partition. Off and on (and more frequently the past couple weeks), I lose my link to the apps (all icons are the generic android ones) and I can't launch any apps thereafter. I've tried everything: wiping all data/cache/davlik/sdext, reinstalling myn's, wiping the sd card, etc, but I still encounter this problem. I'm at the point where I just want it to work and may resign to the fact that I have use the stock apps2sd 2.2 version. I assume if I go this route, will wiping all data and reinstalling myn's be enough to get this back to stock apps2sd?...or if anyone has any advice on how to get Darktremor's a2sd working, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
 
when you partition your card, only the card is affected. if you wipe data,dalvik cache, and cache, then only your internal system is wiped. you can wipe sd ext and see if that helps though you will still be partitioned. another thing you can try is to format your card, but that will wipe out the partition and erase everything on your card.
 
ocnbrze, should I try only wiping sdext? if I do this, will I have to reinstall all of my apps? I've been reverting back to old nandroid backups to try to get my phone up and running. I don't remember, but at one point, I ended up deleting the android_secure folder because of probs I have was having. One other thing I've noticed is that my a2sd partition (seen with the Quick Sys Info app) is growing smaller. At one point it was 250-300mb large and now it's at 20mb! I don't know what's going on there. This is w/o installing new apps.

yes you will loose your apps by doing that. just make sure to back them up with titanium backup and you should be fine.
 
I haven't done it in a little while, but I have older backups of all my apps with TB. Any idea what this problem is caused by? I'm afraid that I'm going to continue encountering it. This behavior has happened more than 10x in the last 5-6 months.
 
That would really suck if the card is going bad. Do you use a2sd? If so, is it working well for you? What kind of card are you using?
 
Is it the patriot LX class 10? If it is, I have it as well. So you basically made your ext partition larger while using stock apps2sd? I know that would work for me as well. The only drawback I saw was internal memory dropping when larger or a large number of apps was installed.

Update: according to that link you posted, you are using a2sd are you not? Did you do a2sd reinstall, etc?
 
it drops a little, but not much maybe a few mb here and there. i have way more apps then i ever did and i still have almost 200 mb left internally.
 
Nice! After looking at your link, I'm thinking about installing Synergy. Would you say it's a step up from Myn's 2.2? I shouldn't have to worry about the radios right (4g, etc)? Would you recommend wiping data/davlik/cache/sdext and then installing the rom? From there I'll either reinstall using TB or do the apps 1 by 1.

if you are going to keep your partitioned then i highly recommend that you try out the new synergy-kingdom rom. try the 7/11 nightly. the link is in the rom/kernel sticky.

all of these new sense 2.1 and 3.0 roms are so much better then myn's 2.2 which is a solid rom. but when you flash these roms you will never go back.

as far as radios go. it is not necessary. but it may help in 3g reception and might save some battery life. but that is up to you. please read this if you do decide to upgrade your radios:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...before-you-flash-your-radios-read-thread.html
 
Is 4g working with synergy-kingdom? I won't bother with the radios then. I don't want to mess up what's working.

Thanks bud. Do you recommend starting from scratch, wiping my sd card, and doing a re-partition?...or should I just keep it intact and just do a wipe of data/davlik/cache/sdext?

i would try the wiping first. then if the issue is still there then i would start from scratch and format it and partition it again.
 
Great, I'm going to try this out now. I don't know if you're using the synergy-kingdom rom, but there's some mention about doing the sense 3.0 auto-install. Do you know if I need to do this with the latest nightly? I didn't see anyone mention this step in the past couple days.
 
yeah you have to create a folder called synergyrom and create another folder within it and call it rosie. since it is on your card already you do not have to do the steps over and over. probably why it is not mentioned.

edit: it is a great rom so far. i just flashed the 7/12 nightly last night. gonna give it a test run today and see how it handles. looks great.
 
I just installed it and got to the screen where you pull the ring to get to the desktop. Now I only see a white HTC screen and can't get out of it. Any ideas?

Edit: I was able to get in now and go through setup. I guess I just had to wait a little longer. I went ahead and started installing apps from TB and the market. I noticed that my internal mem is falling. How do I trigger a2sd to work?
 
Another thing in addition to my a2sd question above is that now I'm unable to install any further apps. I get the message that I have insufficient space even though my a2sd partition has 700+mb left and internal has 32% left. Do you think it's because the rom is using the android_secure folder? Should I move the apps to the phone using apps 2 sd (the app)?
 
I did initially before I installed synergy. I just looked at my file system by connected the phone to my pc and android_secure has 1 app, but nothing else. Not sure what's going on. I did not follow the instructions to that guide to the T however. I reinstalled apps using TB instead of freshly from the market. Does that have anything to do with it? it just doesn't seem like the built-in a2sd is working.

yeah, you know i just noticed a few of my apps are missing, and now it will not let me restore or download from the market. damn i liked this rom. might have to try another rom out. i might try the mikkingdom beta out or go back to my kingdom 1.3 nandroid. i guess i will have to see what the next nightly has in store.
 
well i really liked the virus's kingdom rom which looks like he is turning that into the syn-kingdom rom. but you can still get kingdom 1.3. here is the .zip if you want to try it. Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!. it is pure sense 3.0 and pretty amazing. i would also try mikg2.2 or kings alliance 7.6. i think actually i gonna try the evolved rom director's cut next. it just came out a few days ago. you can get most of them on the rom/kernel sticky.

edit:looks like mik2.3 is out. gonna givethat one a go instead. damn to many roms to checkout!
