Help Friend Stream broken after firmware upgrade?

Hi,

Just wondering whether anyone else has started experiencing problems with Friend Stream since upgrading their firmware to 1.72.405.3

I used to rely on Friend Stream (and the Friend Stream widget) to get the info on my Twitter, Facebook and Flickr contacts.

But since upgrading to the latest firmware I've only had one Flickr picture appear, although I know that many more pictures have been uploaded. Twitter seems to be ok, Facebook I've yet to decide whether it's ok or not.

I suspect this might be another symptom of the SMS notification bug that is being discussed on this forum and elsewhere in that, if what I've read about that is correct, it's all down to the list of contacts we have in the People app. My Twitter and Facebook contacts are there, but my Flickr contacts aren't integrated into People at all.

I need a bit more time (no one posts much over Christmas!) to define exactly what is working and what isn't, but it would be a great help to know whether others use Friend Stream and whether they are also experiencing problems since installing the latest firmware.

What exactly is wrong with your Friend Stream?.

Ok, after a few days observing the problem, here's what seems to be happening:

Twitter and Facebook work fine and all tweets and updates appear on Friend Stream as expected.

Flickr isn't getting updated at all, despite there being a fair number of photos from my friends that should appear. If I delete my Flickr account from Friend Stream and then sign up to it again, some pictures appear, but not all, and then no further updates occur. But if I go into Friend Stream and do Menu -> Friends -> Flickr, all my contacts are there, and if select any of them, and then press "Recent uploads", all their photos appear correctly.

If, from my main screen (i.e. moving away from Friend Stream), I go into Settings -> Accounts & sync -> Flickr, it shows that both Stream and Contacts are syncing and getting updated as expected, even though it isn't actually doing what it's meant to do. Interestingly, "Facebook for HTC Sense" is syncing the live feed correctly, but won't sync contacts.

All was working correctly before the latest firmware update, so I guess I'll have to wait until HTC issue a firmware fix and see whether that solves this issue. But it's strange if no one else is experiencing it.

I'm experiencing the same issue on my Desire Z. Friend Stream just refuses to show any new Flickr photos. I've tried to clear the Flickr app's data - and it seemed to have worked once after that (for one update) and then stalled again. The Flickr client in HTC Sense soft seems "cursed" to me. I had a Hero before and there were lingering problems with the Flickr app as well. It either didn't work or was eating the battery (permanent partial wake lock) until they fixed it eventually with some firmware update. I'm little fed up with that, I mean come on, how hard could it be, why the Flickr problems all the time? I like the feature and I'd really like it to just work properly.

I'm going to write HTC support and post the link to this thread in the trouble ticket.
