The MT's battery isn't full when it says 100%, if you use a current widget monitor you can see it still has charge current going in until about 1-2 hrs after 100%. Batteries don't like to be in that state, so this "feature" is to prolong the life of a battery. But you can always charge that extra hour to make sure it's really full.

yeaa i've done this, i would monitor it, leave it plugged in for 2 hours after it reads 100% and as soon as i unplug it, within 3minutes, it reads 98%..and keeps dropping 2% every 5min
you have an app using data a lot more than it should.
maybe you have the Maps bug.
I know when my Maps app is running in the background my battery drops 3% a minute, which is RIDICULOUS.
I have to force close maps, even if i havent used it that day, sometimes it comes back up.
If i didnt use it every other day to check bus routes and distances id delete it.
maps is THE source of major battery drain on my MT. nothing else on the phone drains as much as maps.
even with the gps radio off, something in the app is eating battery

I get amazing battery life! ... until i start using it... When its in idle it can last all day without dropping much, but I turn the screen on and start messing with my 3g(browsing web and such) it will drop very fast so that is probably your problem something in the background running and/or using data.

I had done some testing and found that with the phone on after about two hours after hitting 100% it will tell you it’s at 100% but it is actually letting the battery drop to 95% and then charge back to 100% why still displaying 100%. In my case if I unplug the phone or reboot it will show drop to the true percentage very quickly. I have only noticed this when the phone is powered on obviously but I don’t think this happens when the phone is charging why it is powered off. I have had a few instances when I left my phone charging at night would wake up in the middle of the night after the phone has been charging for a few hours to find I was at 97 or 98%. If you have battery monitor widget installed you can see the phone running these drain and charge cycles looking at the history option. I am at work but will post my screen shots of the history file showing this happening.

Ok, this means that it's draining at a fast rate all the way through, not just the first 100 to 90%. Do you have BT, GPS, or Wifi on? They can also cause drains without being used. Maybe there's an app that's constantly running in the background, which top 3 apps does your settings - battery usage say? If all else is normal, it could be that you just have a bad battery that doesn't hold a charge, in which case you could request a replacement from VM.

bluetooth and gps are always off...i would sometimes have it on airplane mode with only wifi on and it still drains the same...battery usage shows "phone idle" using the most battery at 21% and everything else seems normal
I have the same problem.....from a full overnight charge....in the 10 minute drive to work it will lose like 5%. Didn't know that there was a Google Maps bug. I usually see the service running in the Services section but I just attribute it to my Google Latitude account that tracks your phone and allows you to see where your other Latitude friends are.

The first week or so of owning this phone I was lucky to get 8 hours out of my batt but after changing a few settings and allowing juice defender to schedule when data synchronized and wifi I was able to stretch it out to like 15 hours. now that I am more comfortable and have done some moderate undervaulting I am able to make it through the entire day. Still have never seen my phone at 99%, always goes from 100 to 98. Has anyone ever seen their phone at 99%?

I've seen it at 99%, then 98%, then 97%, if I'm not using it heavily, but only if I "overcharge" it by about 1.5-2 hrs after 100%. Battery gauges aren't really accurate to the single digits, even though the software allows displaying it, that's why most OEM battery meters only display approximate values. I've even seen my battery go up 1-2% if I let it idle and not use it for a few hours.

It's just the phone isn't really at 100% when on the charger. The phone hits 100%, then stops charging even though it's plugged in. It'll get down to around 95% (even though it shows 100%) and then will start to charge again. A way around this is to take your phone off the power when it shows 100%, use it for a few minutes, let the battery drop to whatever, and then charge it back in to 100% - you then have a full 100% battery charge.

I read this thread a few days ago as a lurker, thought of it as a weird problem and moved on with my life.
Until today, when I noticed after having the phone charge all last night and this morning, only to go out for pizza in the afternoon and have the battery drop to 98 within probably a minute. Data and WiFi were off, and the screen was on the lowest brightness.
I tried it again later in the day. let it charge and stay at 100 for a few hours. 98 again.
98 seems to be the magic number. I clear my battery stats from CWM every once in a while too.
Hit me up if you found a fix, yet.

I've been playing around with the different CPU settings on the No-frills CPU Control app. I've tried the four main Froyo-based ROM's for the Triumph while trying to sort out why the phone did not seem to go into sleep mode. I thought I finally got the phone to properly sleep when I installed Thunder ROM from ziggy46. I set the max CPU to its stock 1GHz while setting the min CPU to 122 MHz. The smartass governor seems to work best for me, but it seems like every time I bring up the No-frills app, the governor would default back to ondemand. I don't know if it really is back on ondemand or if it is just some display issue with the app itself.
The results? Around 60-70 hours of uptime before I decide to start charging the battery again at around 10%. Granted, I'm not what I would consider a heavy user of the phone. I use my phone mostly to read all my feeds during the day and check emails. Since I'm on the cheapest phone plan, I try to keep all my calls as short as possible. But, checking the CPU status with CPU Spy, I can see that most of that uptime is spent in sleep mode.
The weird thing is that it seems I have to set the CPU settings again after I've finished charging the phone. If I don't, the phone will not go into sleep mode, and the battery will barely last a day doing the same routine. I thought these issues with the phone not going into sleep mode were due to the build of the ROM itself, which is why I ended up trying all of the Froyo ROM's. I even tried using different overclocking apps, but the same thing would happen. Is this a kernel issue? I know that you need to have a kernel capable of being overclocked in order to control the CPU on the phone. Does anyone else notice that No-frills does not seem to keep the settings you give it?

My battery life is amazing. just the first 2 percent of it goes battery oddly quick. it's honestly not a problem. just annoying. but overclocked, underclocked, and with all types of CPU mods and just factory settings, the phone has always done this.
