Please stop flaming Michael Weston. He is one of our insiders, but I wouldn't blame him if he never came back after reading all this. I am going to alert the mods and ask for some intervention. It would be a good idea for you folks to edit your posts while you have a chance. Thank you.

One of the reasons for this forum's being around is to discuss these rumors. When we were discussing the advent of the Incredible, way back in February, that's how we learned everything about the phone before it came out. ** (see note) We knew more about it than most vzw employees! We encourage rumors. In fact, most of the major cellphone sites were checking this part of the forum, specifically the http://androidforums.com/htc-incredible/42916-official-htc-incredible-thread.html which is now closed, to get all of the rumors that we were privy to be first given.
We were "famous" here, as it were. Many of us, including me, had our names credited on the internet as being thanked for sourcing (leaking) info to major phone sites.
Those were some "heady" months. Android Forums was so busy from all the traffic that it was overloaded and unable to handle it and they were all coming to our thread for the rumors.
Stop the rumors? NO! That's our raison d'etre!
** the leaked pictures of the Incredible, back in December or January, had it with a red back. People were complaining about that bitterly, here. Verizon took note of that and changed it to black. At the time NKT was leaking info to us because he had an actual phone in hand (this is about late Feb. early Mar.).
Everyone asked him a ton of question and had finished. I then got the bright idea to ask him what color the back of the phone was. He answered "Black!"
silence.....
black...Black?? BLACK!!! None of the others had thought to ask him the color of the back of the phone, but to me it seemed to be the most simple, yet important question! Well!! That had stirred up about 30 pages of banter and excitement on the phone. You can read it for yourself in the thread I linked. Those were exciting times. There has been nothing like them, since!
So, yeah, we cherish rumors and honor our sources.

then take the good with the bad. if someone says something is coming, then keeps changing what they said (froyo to OTA etc), and turns out to be wrong, flame on.

And while I do agree with you about how important certain information can be. There has to be a point where u realize that people just want attention. We could Also merge all of these froyo threads too so people have one place to read all the discrepancies. Err I mean "leaked" tips. =)

That's a very good point. We had to deal with them too. They usually were easy to spot, eventually. You have to let it all in and then sift it out. Mike Weston was sifted out as genuine during that whole Incredible affair, fyi.

Look i am new to this forums and if everyone would stop trashing people so much we could probably get more information on upcoming news. I am sure there are lot of people afraid to say anything b/c a lot of you are just down right mean. If people get information and would like to share with us, hear them out! If they didn't give us information we wouldn't know anything. So let the reputable people share with out ridicule in these forums. There is to many set backs in the technology development to trash anyone. Remember without the insiders we wouldn't know anything except our opinions

Keep the rumors flowing. I think it is interesting to watch the dialog, and anticipate changes. I will be pleasantly surprised with froyo before the end of September.
