froyo is finally out!

I don't remember seeing that myself.
I remember downloading the update, which took 10 minutes I guess.
Then it was on an install screen for a while (similar to the downloading screen), restarted, then another screen with an arrow with a circle around it and a progress bar.
It Sat on that for a while and restarted again.
Then the next time it restarted it errored on some sync errors.
After clearing some cache for exchange mail and gmail I restarted again and all worked fine.

I'm guessing you've had some sort of failure.

Yeah guess so, Am rebooting now to see if i can give it another go, not too hopeful atm though.

I'm on Tesco package (although the phone states O2 as operator??) and I've manually tried updating, but the phone keeps telling me no updates are available. Any ideas??

If you can get it to boot back into the phone at least, you could restore to factory settings andtry to update again.
You'll lose all your content of course (contacts etc), so you better back it all up if you can.

It's all backed up on my SD card, thanks i'll try it out now.

edit. same thing happened after i tried it :(

I'm got the Tesco package ( one for girlfriend one for daughter ) so looking to update the phones for them asap. I got my sim free Desire running on Froyo on release day and loved it. Hope Tesco release soon

Ryan: I got the phone on the 15th Dec this year de-branded but it was bought from the vodaphone shop. There is no bloatware or anything vodaphone mentioned anywhere. It is installing the update as im typing.

If it's a T-mobile branded phone it will probably take a while for them to add all their custom software etc before they release 2.2 to their customers.

Have you/can you manually check for an update via settings?
tried that mate thanks anyway its a branded t mobile so might take a while

I got my phone through Carphone warehouse, but it's a vodaphone contract.
But there's no Vodaphone logo or software on it...
As far as I can see it's completely unbranded.

Still updating and am stuck on a screen with a little Android fella and an exclamation mark above him, been on this screen for past 20 mins or so now.

Did this happen to anyone else?

After a fun evening of pulling my hair trying a million different methods i assumed that it must be something to do with rooting, so i flashed the stock rom, downloaded 2.2 again and it worked!

Thought i was going to be stuck on 2.1 forever. ;)

I'm also on a branded t-mobile - I did a manual check for the update - just updated now. :)

To be honest, can't really tell much difference yet coz the Sense UI is exactly the same, although I can move apps to SD, so it's definitely 2.2!! I guess the more I play, the more I'll find.

T-Mobile have finally release 2.2 froyo for wildfire! yay!

I had to check manualy though so if your on t-mobile just check for updates yourself and it should come up!

what stock rom did you use as i dont know what to use? also has the official update got live wallpapers??:D:D:D

I have the Signed Froyo but need to flash via clockwork mod.
No livewallpapers are not compatible due to its processor.

All the stock roms for Wildfire are here Index of /shipped/Buzz/.

Just download the file, open it on your pc, have your phone on it's home screen ready to connect by usb and follow the instructions given by the program, takes about 10 minutes.

If you are unsure as to which stock rom to choose like me as my operator (o2) wasn't listed, open the bootloader on your phone by switching off then pressing power + volume down buttons at the same time, the radio should be listed on the first page (eg RADIO-3.35.20.10). That number should be listed in one of the links on the shipped roms page. ;)

Has anyone had an issue with gettin on to the android market since the update? Mine will not go past the terms and conditions :|
