Froyo RUU update available

Each Gold card has to be made the same way by going throught the proocess all over again, I made three because I am a paranoid sort and like to cover my butt , this way I will always have one in standby!!!!
I'm not paranoid, but I figured since I'm making a goldcard for my Desire, I might as well make all of my phone cards goldcards. Froyo for the Legend will be out and I'll want to update my wife's phone. And I made an extra backup just incase I have a failure with one of the other cards. So that's two active and one backup card. It's not hard after you do it once, so I figured why not.
:D

Hey everyone...I've been reading this entire thread and there isn't a mention of my next question...I just wanted to make sure that the official HTC stock 2.2 does in fact have the HTC Sense UI built in and not just the plain 2.2 ui ??

Csnt getmine to work. running on an unlocked virgin phone in uk. make the gold card, start the process and then half way through get error 171 saying it has lost sync and then it wont do anything. phone is stuck on htc logo and only way around it is to take battery out and start again. any ideas as its driving me nuts

Stuck on this exact same problem also...please someone help! This is driving me insane!

The RUU update failed for me the first time too (Virgin Mobile branded Desire). I just went through the whole process again and it worked the second time. Make sure you have USB debugging enabled on the phone and that your PC was rebooted after installing HTC Sync. I can't remember if I ran the RUU file in Administrator mode or not but maybe that might help?

Tried that too. Had the update Sync for 3 days and it has debugging enabled. Did you have it in boot mode or standard when trying to upgrade? neither work for me

^ In standard mode - NOT boot mode - that never worked for me.

I just ran the RUU update file with the phone powered on normally and connected to my PC in HTC Sync mode. Failed once, worked second time.

Hello,
I get error 110 when flashing any RUUs saying that the RUU file is incomplete...
I think there is a problem with the radio as when the install wizard "writes" the radio the progress bar on my phone that is normally green through the progress turns for a second red and then back to green. Another thing is that the bootloader version is updated based on the RUU file, but not the radio that remains the same all the time to 4.06.xx as I have it now.
One other aspect is that the phone doesnt start up and the only "menu" that I can access is the RUU one when I start up and unplug the cable to the pc; when I plug the pc cable back in the screen turns into the one with the triangle! signs (in the corners of the screen) and in the middle its written HTC.

Any clue on that error as right now I have a brick?

Thanks a ton!

Ok so I pretty much followed all the instructions to a tee and it still did not work, I get Error 130 [Model ID Error] with the first update and then Error 170 [USB Connection Error] with the second update.

Here are the steps I did, maybe I am missing something or maybe it's just bad luck and I can't update?

I'm on Telus with the exact same model/software versions as the other Telus users in this thread...
- I uninstalled all HTC Sync and drive files, rebooted computer, then reinstalled the old version of HTC Sync...didn't work.
- Did the same as above but installeld the new version (3.0), didn't work.
- I enabled USB debugging + Unknown sources + HTC Sync in my phone settings...no go.
- I completely turned off my computer for 5 minutes, nothing.
- I tried booting the phone in fastboot, Hboot, nothing.

Also, I'll add that the goldcard procedure went smoothly and it worked in one shot...no problems or anything like that. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Ok then read this thread and try it this way instead!!!

http://androidforums.com/htc-desire/174365-2-10-405-2-ota-manual-update.html

This way has to work because you are doing the install from the SD card.

Good Luck!!!

The problems with the second RUU may be because the new bootloader installed is presenting itself differently, causing problems with Windows drivers. If you have 2.09.405.8 already just use the manual/OTA update, don't flash the RUU.

Hi,

Completely new to the android world so please bear with any stupid questions

I am in the same boat as cubano07x. My phone is also A TELUS set. Was working on this last night, created two separate gold cards (both were created without issue) and then tried to flash. First attempted to flash the new RUU and got 170 error. Then tried to flash 1st RUU (thinking I would just use the Update.zip method to get to latest version) and got 130 error.

I do not have the phone in front of me but I think it said bootloader was 0.83 would that have an impact on this working? Also noticed the latest version of HTC sync says not for use in North America, so I did not install it and am using version 2.0.38.
Thanks in advance for any help / ideas

As I told him I will now tell you go to this thread and do it this way.

2.10.405.2 OTA manual update

There is no way this should not work because you will be installing from the SD card in the phone.
And yes that RUU will work just fine I have it on my Desire and I am on AT&T in the US.
Good luck

Now I could be wrong (and i hope i am) but this line

***This update is for stock froyo release 2.09.405.8 only.***

from the first post in the thread you are referring to seems to be telling me I need to have froyo installed.

I was not able to get 2.09.405.8 installed.

tried again on a different pc with a different version of windows and EXACTLY the same result. pain in the arse. at least with my iphone jailbreak it worked.

Guys i am really desperate and need of help!!!!

I went through the whole process, created goldcard (2 in fact), and updated to WWE_2.09.405.8 just fine. Went for the update to OTA WWE_2.10.405.2 and it has crashed my phone!

When i turn it on it just has the HTC splashscreen, the quietly brilliant doesn't come up!!!! I've booted into recovery mode (by holding down the volume down button while pressing the power on button) and even tried installing the WWE_2.10.405.2.exe that way but now get a error 170 usb connection error whilst it's "upgrading".

Please help, i don't want to use the HTC support as i think they'll say i have no warranty any more. I still have 2 goldcards and can boot into recovery, surely i can fix this phone - i'll even root it if i have to as a last resort!

Also noticed the latest version of HTC sync says not for use in North America, so I did not install it and am using version 2.0.38.
You MUST install the latest HTC Sync v3.0.544 in order to run the latest RUU update file. Even though it says it's for EU only, it installs the drivers just fine, and let's you run the update file. I don't use HTC Sync so I'm not sure if it runs fine for syncing or not, but it should. Anyway, you MUST have the latest drivers from HTC to install this newer RUU, and the newer Sync installs them for you.

Quick question, I have a Telus HTC Desire, this wont change anything in regards to the 3g bands will it? Just want to make sure that I can run 2.2 without any hitches.

Thanks guys!

sorry to come back to this...nobody got error 110 like I get when trying to write the RUU file? (post 385 in this thread)

i am not able to access any bootloader or recovery menus...

thanks a lot guys!

No it won't change the bands as I believe the hardware radio is different and uses 850/1900 only. I have a Telus Desire and although I'm currently using 2.09, I have installed the update to 2.10 and nothing gets altered in either version. Infact, the Froyo RUU opened up my phone by debranding it. The Telus firmware blocks EDGE data and I'm using it on Rogers. Once I updated to the first Froyo release, EDGE started working outside 3G areas. Works great in fact...better than the iPhone 3G did.
