Froyo Update Being Pushed!

So let's say we were runnin a custom rom like velocity and accepted the update to test out froyo of curiosity. Could we flash back to velocity or the custom rom after done playen with froyo?

WTF!? It rebooted, said the system process was funky so I hit "wait" and it says 2.1 for firmware version.

I guess this is why you don't do things like this at 3am.

I'm confused as to what just happened. My girlfriend who also has an Ally isn't getting the notification at all.

If you are running a custom ROM you can not receive the OTA update at all. You have go back to the stock ROM for it to come through.

My girlfriend who also has an Ally isn't getting the notification at all.

The OTA is not pushed to all phones at the same time. Some already have it and others might not receive it for a while. And I have no idea about the problem you had with the phone rebooting.

That makes sence so why have the ability to turn ota update off and on then?. Ota update has to sync to how many allys on verizon network?

I didn't receive the update notification either. Although I did notice a crack on my screen this morning, now im not very happy. Still on ZVC. Im going to disconnect from PDANET and do a force checkin

Nope, nothing yet. Im getting aggravated with verizon's crap. The internet is getting worse can only stay online a minute at a time b4 dc's. I dont know if its part of the froyo being updated but its been going on for a long time now. Hopefully you guys can develop a froyo based rom that will smoke verizon and lgs stock bloated bulls*** firmware.

I'm starting to think I dreamed it. Checkin doesn't do anything and if I go to system update it says I'm already up to date. If I didn't have my girlfriend as a witness I would be convinced I dreamed it.

My girlfriend just got the update and she is now running froyo 2.2.1 but I'm still on 2.1. I don't understand what's happening here. Maybe it's because I rooted, although I did unroot my phone before I attempted to apply the update. Checkin doesn't prompt an update.

Got the ota this am clicked to install now I saw the android symbol with the box and progress bar and walked away to make coffee. About one min later I heard the notification that my sd card had mounted and though that was to fast. When I picked up the phone there was an error about divx not playing without registering and I'm still on 2.1. Have u had any luck with this?

Just for verification purposes, I got the notification today as well, so it's definitely being sent out. About a month early (or 6 months late, depending on your view I guess) than what Verizon was saying. Haven't accepted mine yet, since I rooted, removed the bloat, then unrooted. I'm gonna go back completely stock before I try anything.

My wife and I haven't had any luck at all installing the update. For those of you that ran the update but are still on 2.1, run a reset in settings > privacy > factory data reset and you will be pushed the update again.

I ran the update with the stock recovery and a custom one (clockwork and amon-ra). In both custom roms I get two noticeable errors:
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed

Anyone have any ideas around this? I have tried turning verification off in the custom roms.
