froyo update for samsung i5500

Hi

Supposedly, the android 2.2 update for the i5500 (in the UK) was meant to be released in december, but it's now january and I havent got my froyo yet. Anyone know when it's going to be released?

i did the update through kies the other day,but it did not do the full upgrade.
now the upgrade is stuck on my phone but i cant finish it off.
plug your phone into kies and see if the update is there.

ok, I checked it in kies last night and I didnt get any updates made available to me (except 2.1 update 1, which Ive already got). should I reinstall kies? and will this fix the texts problem I wonder...

You get the Froyo update via kies????
Bro what version of Kies r u running?
Im so sick of having like 10gigs of space that I cant install apps to:mad:.
Lets hope it comes soon:)

Well I updated it by kies but it wasn't froyo :( It has only changed my baseband version, thought, but still no froyo :(

Has anyone got some information about official froyo in europe ?

if you want to risk your phone with an unofficial update (and I dont!), then just google samsung i5500 froyo update and you should eventually find one of the many threads (that i cant be bothered to link to) that tells you how do it. The only other things you could do are email samsung every day asking for the update or just sit back and wait. In fact, I think I've got an email to send...

Uhhhhhhhhh, MadBob

It didn't occur to you to perhaps share with us how WE might do that?

I'm in the US on T-mobile and have spent a lot of webtime trying to find a way to do exactly that.

Gloating is not an attractive posture to assume. Sharing is.

Same issue. I have "this is the latest firmware." I bought mine unlocked, I'm wondering if I'm running some weird firmware or something.

PDA:JH4 / PHONE: JG3 / CSC:JH2 (VDC)

Hey Beanyhead, i have same firmware as you apart from i have (VOP) at the end, i used to have the repeating text issue then took to Samsung dealer and they changed the firmware to to the one i have now.I dont get "latest firmware" message from Kies, i get "this device can not be updated" why we get different messages is strange.

Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this...

I did some research and discovered that the last bit is the country code. I couldn't really find a definitive answer for what country code "VDC" is, but I believe it's Czech. I'm thinking that perhaps Froyo isn't released in that country yet?

EDIT: Ahmadinejad, checked out your link and did indeed find that VDC is Czech and it hasn't been released in that country yet. Thanks!http://androidforums.com/members/ahmadinejad.html

It is in fact the regional code of the product which contains operator name or country identifier (for example XEU - UK, XEF - FR, O2I - O2 Irealand). For more information you could check the "Samsung official letter code." list on samfirmware I5500 page.

VDC looks to come from Vodafone Czech.

Is this in UK?

Not showing on my Kies (got 2.1 update 1)

Do I need to do something other that stare vacantly at the screen?

I'm quite good at that, but it hasn't worked yet :)

Save your eyesight it's a false alarm. We're all still waiting :(

Boooo!

Should've known better; it's taken me since Xmas to get Kies to work on Windows 7.

I guess I got a bit carried away, wxpecting Froyo as well!

Thx for thr reply BTW

According to that, the Online Support Team isn't aware that Froyo is being released to non-UK users already!
