The status bar shows a battery percentage icon. How is this being displayed without root?

I do not believe this screenshot is real. A few reasons:

1) the clock is already big and bolded which is in 2.2 not 2.1 and if you are at this screen you have not installed 2.2 yet
2) drocap screenshot tool is for rooted users only
3) the battery percentage indicator is for rooted users only and is probably in a custom ROM

Well they are about to release this program called Adobe Photoshop, maybe he already has it on his computer?

the file has to be on the sd card, make hidden folder viewable and system files viewable. then search for quite possibly the only 45.2 mb file on the sd card.

No one is doubting that 2.2 is coming today.. they're doubting the legitimacy of the screenshot considering there are things on it that are options you can only access via root.

If OTA updates aren't blocked, you can still get em'...

ummm the user that got this screen shot has root. You still get OTA notifications with most ROMS.
