Help Frozen screen

I was having intermitent issues with the send/answer green button on my EVO, many times I cannot make a call. I tried pulling the battery off but no real improvement. Sometimes it doesnt happen while other times a few times a day.

Today I was having issues with the entire screen, I couldnt tap on anything.

I put the phone to sleep with the button on top of the phone, come back a few seconds later and its good.

Any suggestions cause this is pissen me off! Thanks in advance!

first off welcome to the forums!!!!!
have you tried to do a soft reset (power off then wait 10 sec and reboot)? if that does not work then unfortunately you may have to do a hard reset.

Have you tried clearing the cache? Use an app like 1 tap cleaner (free version) to clean up all the cache on your phone.

if problems persist after the two suggestions above try factory reset - dont install any apps and see if the problem continues - if it does than there must be something defective with the evo, it should not be freezing this way. It could be a faulty app is what I am thinking.

Is there a way to reset w/o losing my contact's and apps? ( I dont have any pics, video's, music, etc that I care about!)

Look for a good back up application. I use MyBackUp Pro.
I use it to back up SMS, MMS, Contacts, Calendar, Call logs and Book marks.
It has the ability to back up apps but i dont use it for that. Sometimes that casues more problems then its worth.
I also use this to back up and restore across different devices. For example when i would go from my EVO to EPIC.
Back up the personal info, hard reset / wipe and try that.
Usually when the touch screen fails its a hardware issue, but its also permanent.
With yours being intermitent and temporarily fixed by powering off or sleeping, my guess is it might be a software glitch.
More testing is needed to be completely sure though.
