Root Frustrated trying to root

Ok, I have been trying to root my Evo for a few hours how. I tried going through the "rooting for dummies" here http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html

But when I tried that, I'm getting the error shown below:


Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong??? So far I have copied the file Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip (and yes, its still in a .zip file) to the root of my SD card, enabled USB Debugging and turned off the fast boot........

Welcome to AF!!! Root methods are hboot specific, so the methods you've tried thus far won't work with your current hboot (2.18). Try the method in this guide. Let us know if you need further help.

yep use the gingerbread 2.3.5 guide to root you. there are three methods now to root your device. please go thru and read it carefully as now the rooting process is a little more involved. also please feel free to ask questions if you have them.

Since you accepted the newest ota you cannot root with revolutionary. In the future if you are ever planning on rooting a device dont accept an ota. They get harder and harder to root after each one.
