Further Root and/or CM10 Customization

I've got a pretty cool set up on my phone from the stock version. I Rooted phone with agat 054. Since then I got cwm and flashed cm10. I have titanium backup, droid wall, and es root file manager.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on possibly adding other root apps to my bag of tricks. I'm sure that there are plenty more that I don't know about that do amazing things. What am I missing out on?

The only thing I've altered on Cm10 was the mmsfix.zip which I flashed to fix the MMS problem. I don't care about fixing GPS as I never liked it before when it worked.

Any suggestions on further customization on my set up?

I also like Gemini app manager and permissions denied for apps. Permissions denied is a bit more advanced app, but it allows you to disable permissions on apps (IE Red laser wants access to your contacts and it is just a bar code and qr code scanner meant for price compare). you have to be careful in what you disable though as it can break the app if you take away too much..

I always have 4g turned off. I've never even used 4g to be honest. I couldn't get it in the town that I was at when i bought the phone, so I've always left it off for energy efficiency. I could get it I'm sure if I was downtown, but I'm never there.

Should I delete data throttle files?

Thanks.

Well you should have 4g in Orlando. I don't have it here. I have tested it and my 3g works fine, though I haven't done much speed tests as I have poor signal at home and am on wifi mostly (I need to buy a repeater/booster setup for this house so I will have a signal inside it). just make copies of those files so you can put them back if it doesn't help you.

I deleted them and locked down the folder and haven't seen difference one way or the other. AFAIK Boost does not currently throttle data anyway, but they reserve the right to do so without notice, per their terms.

Dang. I've seen ads for repeaters. How do those work? I might could use one myself.

Does boost not slow your internet speed after 2.5 gb's?

As for some more useful root apps, I did a little reading and have since downloaded Ad Away, system tuner, and SD maid. Haven't played with system tuner or SD maid yet, but I can say as of right now that Ad Away is the s**t. Works AWESOME (ly). :D

This is my 4g speed test... 2 on 4g and one on fios wifi

Nope. Still billed as unlimited. They haven't slowed mine down and I use way more than that per month

Signal repeaters work fairly well as long as you take some time and set them up right. I have set them up before working with cell backups in the alarm industry. I recommend using a directional antenna aimed at the tower for the repeater unit to latch onto and there should be a minimum of 30ft between outside antenna and inside antenna on the repeater. A good quality one gave us decent signal performance in a poor area inside a building. I could talk on the phone as well as use a 3g connection. I haven't tried it with 4g though.

Dang. Thats nifty. Lol how much do they cost? How portable r they? I'm gonna look into em.

New question: I downloaded the root app Battery Calibration. I waited til my battery was at 100%. Then I clicked the button to calibrate this is what happens. First, the app itself tells me that calibration failed, I need to make sure that I'm rooted. Right after that display fades away, superuser grants the app root access, but the app can't tell. I click the same button again and again for the same result. What the heck? I'm on cm10 rom . I just switched so I wanted to recalibrate my battery.

They can be a bit pricet depending on model (two to three hundred dollars). these are an installed type of thing and not very portable, but you could uninstall it and take it with you when you move. you need to make sure they support your carrier's method of communication (CDMA in this case). They do have portable ones for cars, but I haven't worked with those.

Haven't messed with battery calibration on this phone yet. I know on the prevail I could wipe battery status for calibration through CWM

Depending on the recovery you have, wipe battery is right under dalvic cache. Wiping your battery stats calibrates your battery. Should wipe batt stats with each new rom to clean the slate for new stats.

I don't think lbe privacy is compatible with JB. I thought I read that somewhere and when I installed it to cm10 it messed up the phone and had to do a restore.
