The wildfire is in the bestbuy ad today in the chicago area, $199, not sure if that means its in store but y'all should check if you were looking for this phone in the area........i'm going to hold off until some folks get some time with it, and to see if 1st qtr 2012 comes with anything new. I love my V.

VM's service is totally adequate for my needs, but I really don't see why they can't offer more 1Ghz+ phones. I paid $249 for my Intercept last fall and now it's just $99. No resale value. Slow as sh!t. :( By not offering a faster phone with a physical keyboard, they are basically forcing me to start looking at other providers again. I want to stay with BeyondTalk, but VMusa really needs to accelerate the pace at which it introduces new hardware or I'll be forced to move on. The whole point (for me at least) of not having a contract, beyond the obvious benefit of saving some money, is to not be stuck with the same hardware for so long. :( The new phone needs to come along quickly enough that I can sell the old one while it still has some value!

You've only had the phone for a year and you're talking about 'being stuck with the same hardware'? Odd....

"Only" a year? That's exactly my point -- if I wanted to keep the same hardware for two years, I could just tether myself to one of the big four providers with a two-year contract. I want newer hardware more frequently. What about that strikes you as Odd?

I would of course disagree that the slider is junk........it's a great phone. It has none of the freezing or sluggishness that the v had on occasion.

And I love my wildfire. Sure, it's got a few glitches, and HTC sense occasionally force closes; but it's not a huge deal and it's a really wonderful little phone.
It's obviously not a power-user phone, but it's perfect for what I've got it for.

Then get the best phone they have. The Optimus V.

ive had about 4 optimus v's, 1 motorola triumph, 1 htc wildfire s,..<---broke

im tired of the 3.2'' screen its too small, the triumph is just...horrible for the price, 2.2 froyo is out dated.. im looking at the zte warp for boost mobile, and its only $199...or i just get a used old virgin mobile phone as a beater until they release something that has a 4.0'' screen gingerbread/icecreamsandwitch

I love my OpV (especially now that I can have apps without ads). Never had a single issue with it. It's always ran nice and smooth without any lag or freezing whatsoever.

Perhaps I just got lucky with this one. I do tend to take extremely great care of it, and I don't bog it down with so many apps that it can't function properly. ;)

I love mine too but lately I have downloaded, installed and uninstalled a lot of apps, I do have a file app, with which I been able to delete some left overs, but there are just some files i can't figure out whether to dump or not... Other than that, the phone works great (well, wait, the other day I had a scare as I left the phone charging all night long and when I tried to turn it on in the morn, it was completely dead, I thought it was the charger, so I tried charging with a diff cord and it was still dead, I was getting ready to take it back to the store when someone suggested I do a battery pull, and yessssss that worked! LOL...

I've heard this all over, but the Optimus Black (P970) is a GSM phone. I haven't been able to find anything other than rumor that there's a CDMA version coming to Sprint/VM. I would think that if they're going to make a CDMA version that they'd give it a new name, at least. Still, looks like a pretty nice phone.

Looks like a nice phone, I saw the cnet video review, one thing they talked about that the phone might have a lot of glare outdoors. Other than that it looks preety decent...

DITTO !! I want a 4 inch screen . And I just wouldn't touch the Triumph with a 10 foot pole.

The phone has to have a custom rom installed in order to fix all of the issues it has.

This may be true for some of the phones. Some of them are just fine on the stock ROM. Many people did not have any of the reported issues with that phone even on stock.

The Triumph has had many quality control issues :(, but when you have a good phone it is really good :). The OV has it's own issues (slower processor, smaller screen, much less internal app space) and are not quality control issues like those of the Triumph. Whatever phone you think is better is really a personal preference based on your experiences with one or the other (and some cases both) of the phones.

Having used both phones I would love if there was a phone available on VM that had the hardware (processor, screen size, etc), app space, and openness for modding that the Triumph has, and the general solidness and reliability of the OV. That would really be a great phone.

HAHAHAHA, you don't have the Triumph do you?

I have both. Put MIUI on the Triumph about 5 minutes after taking it out of the box so I don't really have a baseline experience other than awesome.

The Optimus was pretty undesirable on the stock ROM as well, IIRC. Was not too bad with CM7 but was noticeably sluggish in simple games like Words with Friends, even when bumped up to 748 MHz.

What is MIUI??

A slower processor, smaller screen, and less app space are not "issues". Contrary to what you believe, the phone was indeed built that way on purpose.

As I politely requested of you before, let's agree to disagree and leave it at that.
