G2 Coming to VERIZON???

Dude, if Google turns this into the Nexus 5 and plus add KLP.....I'll give them my money right now. I'm so impressed with this phone. The presentation was great. Way better than Samsung's debacle. I even say that I would pick the G2 over the GS4 with no hesitation.

I liked it as well. Although would have preferred to have pricing and dates. :p

Well, that shoots THIS one down if that's the case... :(

Not at all . You are forgetting about all the regular customers who couldn't care less about a locked or unlocked bootloader. In fact , they don't know the difference. I do know and I don't care. A locked bootloader is a-okay with me. By the way , there are a whole lot more of us regular customers out there than the few teckies that holler for an unlocked bootloader.

And about that so called poor software and updates. I do think LG is changing this . They don't want to jeopardize their winner.

Can't say I am happy about the Verizon checkmark being on both the front and the back.

Yeah, son is ranting about the branding. I mean, why advertise on my phone? I already have it!

NEXT: Bloat branding. Pepsi and Coke logos, Viagra and Budweiser all on your phone's battery cover and boot animation. I'm actually quite surprised no one's done it yet.

GRRRR!

Just wait until next year

Well, I don't like it either but that wouldn't stop me from getting G2. Honestly every phone I owned on verizon except galaxy nexus had their ad on the front.

LG probably doesn't have muscle like Apple, Samsung to verizon. It's only recently that Samsung finally got rid of it from GS3, GS4. If G2 becomes successful they will have chance to keep G3 clean next year I guess.

Well, with the Moto X tied up with AT&T exclusivity until NOVEMBER  it looks like the G2 will be out of the gate first at Verizon. If the G2 impresses me a little and Moto X then impresses me a lot, no prob: I'll sell the G2 and buy the X.

IMO they both impress in different ways. Degrees of impression are what it will come down to. But after living with that 5.2" 1080p screen, could I drop back down to a 4.7" 720?

Ugh.

I think that AT&T exclusivity of Moto X is only for customization with moto maker and 32Gb version. The regular design 16Gb X will probably drop on 08/23 at Verizon as leaked recently. But I will wait until G2 drops on Verizon in September.

What still bugs me is why does everyone have a special event to announce a phone then not give specific dates on when it will be released. Also everyone needs to get their act together and release on all carriers simultaneously.

Well I don't put that so much on LG, especially since Verizon is in the mix.

I've been notorious for phone hoping. Eris, thunderbolt, bionic, rezound, nexus and finally the DNA. I've kept the DNA the longest and absolutely love it. The form factor, screen, speed and I've been lucky enough to get none of the bugs. I like the X but I would want to customize it. This looks like a winner. I may wait for the DE of the X and compare to the nexus 5 of they hit Verizon. I really will have to fight not getting this one though

The lack of expandable storage killed this one for me. Manufacturers need to start offering 64gb options if they're not going to include microsd. Other than that though, it looks like an absolute beast

I don't know, folks. This has killer specs but the X has killer features. Specs get old faster than features do.

For example: would it not be handy to receive and send texts/emails on your computer screen while the phone never leaves your pocket? Or just ask it to do something, and it does it hands-free?

On sheer horsepower the G2 wins. But I am chasing a user experience... and I think Moto X is going to win on that one. We'll see :)

I have not see much on the x but I assume you need an app or some driver/plugin on the computer for this to work. If that's the case its not much different than the other sms apps via computer out there. Email shouldn't be an issue.

You can already send/receive texts from your computer using an app called MightyText. I've been using it for over a year.

Well, AirDroid does too... but the whole hands free thing works well for me. Between the G2 and the X, it's still a horrible decision to make. They're both so awesome :D

EDIT: I'm not really here to troll the thread and talk up the Moto X. I'm just trying to compare the virtues of both so we can all make a smarter choice when purchase time comes up.

I was also waiting on the x, but if Verizon is really only offering a 16gb version, that phone has no appeal to me. The screen on the g2 is going to blow away the x as well. Besides the lack of sd, I would probably still get the g2 but I am worried that it won't see key lime pie/android 5.0 for a long time after it's released. Any Verizon folks have any feedback at how LG has been with updates?

Whether you like it or not, that's the trend on android devices Google is pushing. Samsung seems to be the only one sticking with micro sd slot, but even they might drop it from GS5 next year. I'm fine with 32Gb internal storage. Last year DNA had only 16Gb option and that didn't stop HTC fans getting it either.

It's tough to tell because Verizon has never carried a flagship LG device. From the one they have had in the past though, is day not good. LG has never been that great worth updates in the past either.

I am 99% in for this device. Will wait for some reviews but this is the ideal phone ive always envisioned. Granted, not everything just the form factor.

32gigs will be enough. My s4 has 80gigs and i've probably used 25 gigs of both the internal and external. i know people crave the extra space but in reality for most you're loading pictures and music in droves just to have it on there.

Since i don't want to lose the unlimited on Verizon, i will sell the g2 if someone offers a similar device with higher storage. No biggie.

Yea that's why I've been sticking with Samsung up until this point. I currently have the note 2 and the DNA, and the lack of memory is precisely why I carry the note as ny daily driver. As long as Verizon doesn't keep up their trend of only offering the 16gb version at launch, I suspect 32 will be enough for the vast majority of users though. Either way, I'm hoping the note 3 and the HTC one max are announced before the g2 is available so I can do some comparison shopping..

A little off topic, but all this talk of 16gb, or lack of ability to expand a 32gb to 64+ makes me think of the days of 1.44MB disks and then "jump" drives of 16mb came out and was all the craze...

Don't get me wrong, I clearly understand the advances in software and other memory tech... Just sayin', it makes me think a little :p
