Root Galaxo 1.6.3 released!!

thnks a lot for you help guyss...this community rocks...
and i cant biliv how noob i am...lol...
when the device was sayin press HOME button..all i was doin is freakingly pushing the center OK button.....hell yss...

right now while m writin this..hav flashed it to 1.6.2
wil check the performance and possibliy go further on 1.6.3
 
Quick question (informale please don't kill me ;)), but I've installed this galaxo fine, but I can't get Gapps in. So where the guide says;
"[FONT=&quot]- restore g.apps (if this keeps failing then mount the SD card and format it on your PC)"
does it really mean format my internal sd? As it just keeps failing and I've wiped twice :p

Hmmm. I formatted and I still keeps getting fails with Gapps restore :( Otherwise it's fine - what am I missing now I'm a bottle of wine down this bank holiday? :)

You need to download JC6 from the drakaz link and rename as SAMSUNG.xxx (or whatever the extension he states in his instructions). Put it in the root of your internal SD (not in any folder)

Then restore will work.
 
Akkk idiot :D I read the Drakaz and it made little sense tbh, so I went witht the Devan and forgot to check back.... My bad :p Thanks :)
 
I was wondering if any Bell users are on 1.6.3 and if they followed the standard procedure or had to edit it to preserve the AMSS?
 
I was using JB2 since its release. And it was VERY slow. F.e. Web browsing was useless on both browsers: native and dolphin . Yesterday I moved to JC6 and Galaxo 1.6.3. Restored all applications , widgets etc. And now my phone is flying even without overclocking option.

Hmmm, I've tried this repeatedly but it just fails immediately. Anyone got any ideas where I'm going wrong? JC6 goes on fine, as does Galaxo - it's just the Gapps :p

use the istructions here, notice that he knows about your problem and made a samsung.tar file that works with this update
"As some flashers experienced issues with I7500XEJC6.zip when restoring G.Apps. I have updated it with a fixed version. Now just extract I7500XEJC6.zip to obtain SAMSUNG.tar."

4) Push the official JC6 PDA update on the sdcard renamed as SAMSUNG.tar

You have 4 files for JC6 firmware. You need !!!ONLY!!! PDA.

As I understand you are trying to copy a bundle of 4 files, not just PDA.
 
yeah i noticed a huge difference in performance when in 710! I noticed that adding an app to the home page takes way less time. I also seem to be losing signal a lot. This could be crappy Bell service or something to do with galaxo i am not sure. Anyone notice any increased signal loss?

I ve been eagerly waiting for this new galaxo release but am now having second thoughts of flashing my galaxy with it.

Firstly, i listen to radio via the speakers. So does the new release prevent music from being played on the speakers ??

Secondly, overclocking to 710MHz(though optional) -- how safe is it ?? i know drakaz has performed extensive tests bfore releasing it but how good is it for the phone life.....

Thirdly, i have seen comments saying that the battery charge drops by 10 - 12% when the phone is sleepin.. Have any of you experienced this problem ???

As of now, i am itching to flash the new galaxo but ll wait for more comments....

Speaking of a completely different topic, i was wondering if i install a third party home launcher say open home, can i or is it even possible to remove the default home launcher ?? This i ask, bcoz i have noticed that even if i set the third party home launcher as default, the "default android home launcher" will still reside in the memory and occupy precious ram . . ..

I'm also having problems. I only put the PDA File on but I get this error message in the log:

-- Restoring Google apps
-- Press HOME to confirm, or
-- any other key to abort..
-- Restore started...

I've had my Galaxy for months, but this is the first time I've flashed to Galaxo so apologies for the newbie questions.

I've installed it fine (thanks to the guide) but I cannot see Advanced Launcher; should it be there by default or do you have to do something to start it? (I have no idea what I'm doing with the Galaxo config - is there a guide to this somewhere?). Same thing actually for BetterBrower and other apps that are meant to be part of Galaxo, I cannot see them anywhere.

Also (and this was pure ignorance) I thought my apps, app settings & sms, etc were backed up using Nandroid. I now realise that Nandroid is just to backup your config if you need to roll back. So I'm having to start from scratch. What do you guys use to backup your settings - Titanium Backup? I was never able to use this before cos I didn't have root, I'll install it for future if this is the best app for this.

if your galaxo install was successful you will not see much difference in the launcher by look
only when you start messing with it do you realise its different (when home press the menu key for extra configuration options), you can also create sub menus then drop apps into them from the draw to reduce clutter and have more screens.
you should have galax0 conf in the app drawer which will give you things for overclock/renice/compcache
ive been running my phone on 710 for 18hrs now and its great, no crash

I'm having same problem. my screen does not reappear when i take away from my ear. I have to use side unlock. Plus, after screen appears, i can't use touch to open dialpad or type numbers. Anyone with solution?
 
I just installed 1.6.3.1
replaced the rectools (4.6.2 with 4.6.3) - didnt reflash the recovery image
wiped, applyed the update.zip and restored gapps (tried applying update.zip without wipe, but acore kept crashing)

im at 710mhz and it works great!!

after some searching, i found my problem. Dust over the sensor on the inside of the phone. See this older post on the proximity sensor.

I tried in vain to delete apps and use task killers. THan i simply blew in the earpiece and magically it started working. annoying since my phone is only 2 months old. but hey it worked.
