hi there,

I got a galaxy nexus of about 5months ago. I never faced a problem, but unfortunately it was dead and didn't turn on again. I kept charging over night, tried (power button + volume buttons) but it doesn't work out, tried removing battery and turn on. Even I tried charging with out battery. Still its same i'm facing this problem from past 2 weeks. Please some one help me on this issue thank you.

Have you tried a different battery or a different charger?

Can you confirm that charger works to charge any other device? It's weird for both the battery and charger to go at the same time, but ya never know.

Have you brought it back to the store you purchased it at to see what they think? Maybe they can test a working charger or a different battery?

thanks for your reply.

Charger works fine with other device. I didnt check with the battery. As I bought it in UK, I live in India. The only bad thing is Indian market doesn't manufacture or sell this mobile. Is there any way to check whether battery is working or not ?? thanks again

Off the top of my head the only way to test the battery is to find another Galaxy Nexus and see if it works in that other device.

Sounds like your situation is complicated - does the place you purchased from in the UK offer a return or warranty policy?

Now I need to find a galaxy nexus in our place. Yeah, it got the warranty. I tried in our country, but they referred me to send it back to uk for warranty .

thank you

You've probably done this but I've had a few times where my GNEX was dead and had to hold the power button for almost 30 seconds before it would power up. I've done this a couple times with the battery in and charger connected and 1 time with the battery out and charger connected. Fortunately, I was able to get it to boot up after holder the power button.

thank you. I tried it but unfortunately it didn't turn up:(. Is there any other way to turn on and I can't see any charging symbol or notification light on the screen. thank you.

If the charger works to charge other things, without the battery in it should still turn on.

Did anything weird happen before the phone wouldnt turn on?

if you are plugging in a known working charger and it is doing nothing, my first guess would be a problem with the USB connector in the phone. Maybe something get bent or broken. I doubt that something physically went wrong with the battery if it was working fine.

Have you tried moving the micro USB connector around while its in the phone (wiggling it)? Try shifting the position a little one direction at a time and see if you can get it to work.

{EDIT}

When you say it suddenly switched off, did the battery run down and then the device powered off, or was it working normally during the day (not low on battery) and just shut off? If it just shut off mid day I don't think there's anything you can do but send it back.

Was low battery, and the battery ran out. The moment I kept it charging the problem started.

thank you

Sounds like a problem with the physical connection. Try moving the connector around while its attached and see if you can get it to register a charge.

thanks for your reply. Still no response tim even tried charging with laptop. It detects the device but it can't update the device driver installation.

pull out your battery for like a minute and then re install it should work then. This has happened to me a couple of times after my phone has reset itself

ok so it seems like you have had the battery out for awhile so this probably wont work.

Same thing happened to my phone, woke up one day and the phone was just off. Wouldn't turn on, charge or connect to a desktop. I tried taking the battery out for hours, swapping batteries, swapping chargers/cables and nothing worked.

I finally took it to Verizon and they did the same things I tried. Eventually just gave up and exchanged it for a refurb replacement. The part that sucks is that since there's no sd card, all of my photos and files were gone with no way to recover them.

That is a good reminder to sync/backup your photos every once in a while... I'm doing it right now. Sorry for your loss but thanks for the reminder.

Yup, which is why I started using the camera auto upload feature on Dropbox. Never have to worry about losing photos again.
