Help galaxy nexus i9250 network priority

prpockets

Lurker
when i am home on the wifi network, does the galaxy nexus have network priorty software built in so i am not using data minutes off my broadband plan. i did a search and one person suggested to turn off the data network, well yes that can be done but kinda a pain. my galaxy nexus has ICS.is there any way to determine which network the smartphone is on?

On the status bar, you will see the wifi connection icon, or a bunch of letters (G, E, 3G, or H). If you see the WiFi connection icon, then you are connected to your WiFi and the device is using that exclusively. If you see any letters, with a green and orange arrow beside it, its using your mobile network.

If you leave your WiFi antenna turned on, and you have saved your home network to your phone, as soon as you get in range of your home WiFi, it should connect automatically.

thankyou for your reply, i have watched my wifi icon closely the last couple of days and it seems to indicate when info is being sent with a small movement in the icon, next i was at starbucks and i dragged the email icon to see my email and was prompted to access starbucks wifi, so yes it seems to me that the nexus has a built in priority by looking for the wifi spot first.you would have to watch your data usage very closely to confirm my observation.
thanks again.

You don't have to watch the icon closely. Those little arrows that appear are indicators but you don't HAVE to look at them.

If you have a Wifi icon in the status bar, it's using Wifi - not your mobile network data.
