galaxy nexus to rezound people!

2 week nexus owner here.. can someone who has owned both devices help me out?

How do the standard batteries compare in terms of usage time? I have an extended battery on my gnex and get a lot of usage out of it (no signal issues either), plus the extended back cover adds barely any additional bulk to the device.

Can you get an extended battery for the rezound (~1800) that doesnt require a larger battery cover? I dont want to add any additional bulk to a device that is already thicker than the gnex.

I think the Thunderbolt extended batteries will also fit without much fuss (I figure the error with the Thunderbolt's OEM battery is due to that battery being smaller, but I may be mistaken). I just carry a 2nd battery with an external charger. I love the fact that I can charge one battery while the phone is full capacity with another battery.

As far as signal issues with the Nexus, that would be the biggest and main reason I'd want to switch to the Rezound. A second issue would be ICS compatibility issues with Apps, otherwise I think it would be a difficult decision to jump from the Nexus to the Rezound.

I am on the Nexus right now and I had the Rezound before. I am missing the audio quality, speaker loudness and the ability to make a long phone call without interruption! I returned the Rezound to get the Nexus but because of the mic cutting out after 15 minutes on a call I was reprimanded at work. My employer pays for 50% of my first line so that I will use my phone for support issues at work. I was not able to stay connected for more than 15 minutes during a support call and caused down time to be extended by about 40 minutes. They were not happy about this. I will be doing my best to get back to the Rezound. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect to be able to use your phone as a phone!

• Screen illegible in sunlight: Maybe it's usable at max brightness, but definitely not IMO at auto-brightness
• Cover impossible to remove: I carry a guitar pick to help me pry off the back cover as needed. Maybe it beats a loose cover that falls off, but I feel as if I'm going to break the cover when removing it
• Battery unimpressive, not terrible: I prefer not to disable 4G or enable sleep mode (timed overnight data disconnections) to conserve battery, but the 2750mAh sure solves that problem!
• Power & volume buttons too flush: After 3wks ownership I still curse the flush power & volume buttons that are very hard to 1) find, and 2) press
• The four red touch buttons often don't light when needed, possibly a proximity sensor issue. Once you memorize which button is which, it matters less

So the phone isn't perfect, but there's no other current Verizon phone I'd swap it for.

I can remove the cover with 1 hand when I lay it face down on a soft surface (sofa cushion or bed) and just pry the bottom off while applying a little pressure near the opposite end of the bottom knotch (2/3rds of the way down).

I pretty much agree with everything here except I don't find it necessary to open the case to change the battery. I'm disappointed that the Nexus turned out so poorly. Subpar screen, bad battery and signal and a big phone with a small usable screen relatively to its size. Software great, but hardware and design is not.

I use the corner of one of my credit cards to pry it open when I need to, but I agree, it's a real pain and the thing I dislike most about the rezound.

And I wholeheartedly agree with your last statement, but will even take it one step further. There's not even another phone on the horizon for verizon (at least of the ones I've seen and read about), I'd switch the rezound out for.

I figure I payed $600 for a phone I want everything to work. The pink buttons are big deal to me, I want them to match the red of the phone not my girlfriends t-shirt.

Essentially, for me, the driving point was the battery life. For whatever reason (signal, OS, etc) something was putting a heavy drain on the battery of the Nexus, giving off terrible battery life. This was what made me switch to the Rezound. Not to mention also, the camera on the Rezound is much better, and the amount of settings and options is doubley as high. And the shutter lag is almost so close to the Nexus, that I don't see why Google / Samsung would put such a focus on thier zero-shutter lag, but reduce the quality of the cam. The speaker on the Rezound is like 5 times as loud. Plus, having a removable SD card is a big plus! All in all, the only thing I really miss from the Nexus is the AMOLED screen. Wish the Rezound had that....but I'll definitely take all the extra advantages.

I originally bought the Rezound, but was hesitant, because the Nexus was supposed to be light years ahead of the Rezound. I bought the Rezound on the day it launched (broken Sprint phone), so the Nexus didn't come out before my return period was up. I was worried that the Nexus would be a must have phone, and I'd be stuck with the Rezound. I looked at the Nexus the other day and was not impressed.

One of my co-workers bougt a Nexus a few days ago, and he is currently on his way back to Verizon to trade it in for a Rezound. He's had a ton of problems with it and is not at all happy with it. At points, he can't even make calls on it. I kinda laughed at him when he said he was taking it back and getting a Rezound- he kept razzing me each day at the office that once his Nexus was relased it would murder every other smart phone on the market. Guess not so much... Great phone Samsung.

Obviously there are going to be people that love the Nexus and people that hate it- thats why Verizon sells a wide array of phones. Not saying one is better than the other, just sharing an experience for others that are thinking about making the swap.

I know this is a Rezound forum but I have the GNEX and the Razr. GNEX has issues with the speakerphone and my earpiece. When talking on either other party breaks up if least amount of background noise. Love the Razr and keeping it and may switch the GNEX for a Rezound. If it don't do what you need it to do then why keep it is my policy and GNEX has not been able to do that

I returned my Gnex yesterday for the Rezound and I am already happier. When I went to the vzw corporate store and tried to explain the issue I was having with not being able to reconnect to data they said they knew. Not to mention the speaker volume issue. I just could not see keeping this phone for a year although it did have some neat features, Google wallet, free wifi tether it was terrible at being a PHONE!

I came from the Dinc I bought on release day and never had an issue with it. I feel like I have my old phone back on steroids. Already I have total 4G coverage at home and work and when I ride in an elevator at work and loose coverage it is immediately reaquired unlike the Gnex. Oh, and I can hear the phone ring and use my speakerphone, feel the vibrate and hepatic feedback and the list goes on....
