Galaxy Nexus vs Galaxy Note

New updates and interface don't really matter that much, it will look fresh and will benchmark better under some circumstances but the user experience won't really change much, it's mostly all in your mind.

I hope you don't play games, Galaxy Nexus uses an overclocked SGX540 GPU, yes the same one from the Galaxy S/Nexus S. The overclock will help a little but that will be hugely offset by the fact it has to run games at 1280*720, it's going to struggle. :D

User experience changed a whole lot from gb to ics just looking at the videos. Good thing I have a game system that I use to play games on and use my phone as a phone so I won't have to worry about gaming on it since it will be so bad as you say:)

Well I've also watched the videos, it's different but is it really a better user experience? I'm not sure about that.

We will see. :)

You know this because you've played with the GN and tested your assumptions with final OS code right? Or are you wildly speculating on how an unreleased phone will perform under the stress of some graphically intensive Android game that doesn't exist yet...

We already know quite allot SGX540 performance at various clockspeeds, it's going to struggle a little even with existing titles at 1280*720, nevermind future ones.

Believe me, don't believe me, I really don't care. ;)

Agree i thought the nexus was big until I saw it next to the note it looks tiny.

I think the GNex will have one of the best form factors around...for the simple fact of the curve, coupled together with the thinness, and barely there bezel. It wont feel as BIG as its actual dimensions.

I agree. samsung is usually good with their form factors and making a large phone feel not so large in hand. It will be interesting to hold both the nexus and razr and see how the nexus feels.

Have to agree with Sean. I loved moving up from the 3.7" screen on the Droid to the 4.3" screen on my Bionic. To go further, even just to 4.6" is pushing it. Anything bigger is just too much for me (I know, that's what she said). At this point, specs are all pretty much on par except for one: ICS, it's all I want.

All of that data was collected on devices that, while they may have a dual core, aren't running an OS optimized to support them. I get that we can infer it's probable performance based on what we've seen it do in other devices, but this isn't a simple black and white comparison we're making here. I don't think you can make a blanket statement like "It's going to struggle" without having touched the device or run it through its paces.

OT:

I briefly looked at the note, but I don't think there's any way I can use something that big as a phone. As a guy, I tend to carry my phone in my pants pocket. (Can't keep it in a breast pocket of a coat/jacket due to the radio wigging out my defibrillator.) There's NO way that thing will fit in a normal jeans pocket and not look absolutely ridiculous. Also, I already have an oversized noggin. I don't need to draw attention to that fact by holding a comically large phone next to it all the time.

But keep in mind that Nexus won't be physically that larger than current 4.3" phones because bezel is smaller. Screen just fills larger area on it.

It is physically bigger than all current 4.3 phones but half inch or more. Just saying some may notice that difference.

Well, the Nexus is not that large as some folks seem to think. I looked into the exact numbers to compare them.

Galaxy Nexus
135.5 x 67.9 x 8.9 mm

Droid Razr
130.7 x 68.9 x 7.1 mm

Droid Bionic
127.5 x 66.9 x 11 mm

SGSII (AT&T)
126 x 66 x 8.9 mm

So it's a little longer than Bionic by 0.31". Razr is pretty close to it despite being 4.3" phone.

I agree but some feel that 4.3 phones are already to large as it is and that may deter them although it is not as wide as the razr.

Note already passed FCC with AT&T bands. So it's possible to hit AT&T by the end of year.

Possible in two months and should be available in one are very different statements.

It does look like it is headed to AT&T sometime, but would like to see some source material for the should be available in one month (unless he was talking about the UK which it will be coming to in one month).

Just seems like they could have made the nexus 5 or 5.1" nearly 5.5 inchs for a 4.6" screen is kinda on the big side of things. But i feel anything under 6" is perfect.

. I don't think you can make a blanket statement like "It's going to struggle" without having touched the device or run it through its paces.

Current games are GPU limited, a dual core cpu or new Android update will not magcally improve gaming performance.

In a few months we will see whos right.. :D

I also agree about the many choices for an Android phone, but the problem with Androids is that you see a new phone with better specs relatively too often, and you'll be compelled to upgrade yet again. At least for the iPhone, you'll know you have the best iOS phone for about a year or so.

That being said, I'm switching to the Galaxy Note once it comes out, and ditching my iPhone 4. The iPhone's screen size just doesn't just doesn't cut it anymore.

I dunno, Ive been on my Droid X almost my full 2 years, and I'm still not bored of it. I love it, but it doesnt compare to the GNex, which is definitely what I will be switching to

Not until July is it two years for the Droid X.
