Haha, well I didn't say I liked him, just that I grew up with the two. ;) wasn't a huge fan myself, in fact not really a fan of any of the big names. The more obscure, the better in my opinion.

Goooooood morning all - happy hump day!

Got my wheels (lips and faces) back from the powdercoater last night and I am so excited with how they turned out. I was going to do a red similar to last year, but the Dormant Red color that I would have done are on Joey's LMs and then he has two sets at the shop waiting to get the color so I wanted to change it up. He had this color leftover from a custom request he got and he hasn't laid it down on a set of wheels before. It's called Robin's Blue / Silver so it looks like a silver base coat with a robin's blue texture on top. I have yet to see them in the sunlight but I am so excited to get these on the car. Gotta polish up the bolts this weekend and hopefully get them together ASAP.

Who here is running Windows 8. I'm buying a laptop for my oldest niece for her bday. Is 8 fairly easy to figure out? I'll have to learn it before giving it to her so I can show her how to use it. I'm not looking for a high end laptop. It will be in $350-$400 area.

I run and well the piece of advice is give you is just get a windows 7 laptop. Windows 8 takes a bit of time yo get used to but you've also got to constantly switch between desktop and metro mode just to get things done. Its kind of redundant having the metro ui. If I could go back I'd of bought a windows 7 laptop.

Not a fan myself. My wife feels the same. She is always complaining because our Touchpad is set up for gestures, and when she plays her favorite game, the gesture actions kick in and switch her Window.
 
I miss windows 7, but I do like some of the built-in stuff of Windows 8. There's so many things that are counterintuitive or just plain impossible from the "metro" screen that, like Liamo said, you have to constantly switch back and forth between that and desktop mode. Even with desktop mode the start menu is gone so things are even more confusing. Supposedly with the next update though, to be released this summer, you get the start button back and go back to more of a Windows 7 feel on the desktop and the option to boot straight to desktop and bypass the "metro" screen. You can still get to it, but it just isn't the default.

All in all, I do like Windows 8, but it needs tweaking.

EDIT: To elaborate more on the bolded/underlined statement, let me add these points. I really like the built-in e-mail client. I do like the live tiles on the metro screen, especially the photos live tile once you get your albums in the right folder for it to pull from. Their version of an app store is good, gives you a few free/cheap programs to add here and there.
 
Got a touch nostalgic last night playing with my GNex, and searched out this forum. Can't believe it's still going strong! What's everybody running these days? Also, glad to see another homebrewer in here, cheers Stigy!
 
BTW I ordered this from Amazon the other day and it has made a HUGE increase in my battery life. Seems the extended battery I had bought from Verizon from when I first got the phone just had barely any juice left in it.

These got great reviews and even come with a charger which is nice.

Oh yeah forgot the mention that, but honestly I don't use it as much as I used to because not many places accept it and most people I know have iPhones so I can't beam with it.

It's good to know that its not the ROM that is causing the battery drain, but rather just the battery being old and run down.
 
Yeah, they took away the paypass vending machine reader here at work, so I had stopped using Google wallet as well. (of course now I can't even use it, even though isis is nowhere to be found.)

Hilarious BB

I also have stopped using Google wallet because I got so fed up with having to reset it and then reset it up with every rom flash. It gets annoying after a while.
