Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

I love this phone, it's just I want to get the standard dock for it. I relied on it with the OG droid. I am also considering getting the extended battery since it doesn't add much girth to the phone. Does anyone have an idea of when these accessories are coming or if I can get them anywhere already?

By that I mean, I have no notifications, phone is plugged in and it's blinking back and forth red/purple. Is it just letting me know it's charged (it's about 97%), or just that it loves me? I know my Droid was very set on when it blinked and why, but this just seems pretty random.

Edit: One other quick question. I can't get SwiftKey to work. It's installed no problem and in fact the only selected keyboard, but it never launches. I've tried the long press on text, but nothing happens. Thoughts?

Double edit: Out of pure laziness, how do we use the Nexus as a mass USB storage? I wanted to post a screen shot but my computer wouldn't recognize it.

I haven't figured out the light notifications quite yet. A lot of people have said to use Light Flow for it.

SwiftKey worked for me by opening right after installation and following the steps it walks you through

Can't help on the last question. Haven't hooked it to a computer yet.

Gnex doesn't (can't) support USB Mass Storage.
ICS, however, DOES support that function, but our phones specifically do not. :(

Not having any problems with SwiftKey here other than a pesky notification in the notification bar every time I use it.

As far as the led notification goes, just download lightflow and customize it how you want it

Definitely agreed, it's been really hard resisting the urge to totally customize my Nexus because I know I'm going to unlock and root tomorrow.

Yes, the CSR I spoke to did the same thing with me and it worked just fine, they saw it in the store and honored it, no problem. I think it's actually a pretty common occurrence. Don't be worried.

Haven't heard about your notification light issue, mine doesn't light up at all when it's charging. As BB said, maybe installing Light Flow will allow you to govern the notification light. (Haven't tried it yet myself.)

SwiftKey seems to be pretty buggy on ICS, if the other posts here in this thread are any indication. Hopefully they'll get the kinks ironed out soon.

The Nexus doesn't support USB Mass Transfer since it doesn't have an SD card. Instead, we have MTP - Mass Transfer Protocol. If you have a Windows, it shouldn't be any different, as Windows natively supports MTP. If you have a Mac, you need to download Android File Transfer from the Android web site. The page has instructions on how to use it. Hope that helps!

Same for swiftkey. It's fine. Seems to be a bit wonky for others though.

I downloaded lightflow, haven't done anything with it yet

My only quasi complaints are that Dolphin Browser doesn't work and battery discharged 30% in 5 hours.... While I slept.

Oh, just to clarify a little more for you, tomato, you do have to tell them to look for the note. You'll need to know the date that you had the CSR put the note on your account so that they can find it.

EDIT: By the way, did anyone else immediately cut off the stupid VCAST tag from the charger cable?? No Verizon bloat for me, thanks.
 
looks like verizon duped me...... i haven't had 4g connection since I bought the phone last night even though I am suppose to be covered....aside from that i have to say i really like the phone, I am starting to get used to ICS but still having a little trouble finding some things but I think I will get used to it pretty quickly!

Yeah, the second rep I talked to said that they can't change the price over the chat customer service. I guess I'm in the clear as long as the documentation remains on the order. Good thing I requested the transcript of the conversation.

If this works, I'm getting the phone at price even lower than LetsTalk's offering. :D

After 24 hours with it, I've come to the conclusion that 4.0.2 was a step BACKWARD. My signal hasn't been as good and they disabled wired tether. All week I've had 1-2 bars of 4g and now I've got 0 bars of 3g. Where's that pooch? I wanna ask if it knows it got screwed.

4.1 better be all its hyped up to be, cause right now I'm kinda pissed at big red.

Interesting.....so 4.0.1 had wifi tether enabled?

Edit: Cause I'm pretty sure these images are available...anything you noticed good?

Yeah, I guess the 4G around here isn't as good as I'd hoped. I noticed I had quite a few bars as I was passing by Providence Place last night, but other than that it's been shoddy at best. That said, I'm sure it'll get better in time.

Regardless of the limited 4G in RI, I still couldn't be happier with this phone. It's everything I imagined and then some. Showed it to a few friends at work, whom all got jealous and now can't wait for their upgrades.

Now I just need a dock for at work.

You should be able to find the extended battery through Verizon (store or website). I got one from a store last night. A back for the phone comes with it, but the battery really doesn't add much girth, so I'm not sure the extra back is really needed.

As for the dock situation, Seidio offers a desk dock that might do what you want. You may want to check it out at www.seidioonline.com . Good luck in your accessory hunt.
 
Morning everyone.

So far 20% battery lost on 2 hours off charger. Seems like I am going to lose 10% / hour? I'm gonna let the battery get real low and post a graph. Although sitting at my desk is going to drain it since the radio is a bit weaker I have low service. I have a feeling the Nexus will be searching for service regularly. Oh well -- hopefully an update can fix that and the low volume issue.

Unlocked the bootloader last night and installed Lightflow. That app has a TON of options -- definitely gonna need to spend some time in it to get it all configured correctly. I was sad to see when I unlocked the bootloader that all my pictures and screenshots went with it ... I thought the factory reset held onto the SDCard partition, but maybe the bootloader unlock is different.

Anyway so far so good -- love this thing so much.

Well mine did ship yesterday although I never got a shipping email. Unfortunately, the Memphis FedEx hub is backlogged and there's no guarantee that it will get delivered today. And I have to close early today for my daughter's doctor appointment.

you might be able to pick it up at their facility Today/Tomorrow if they have a problem delivering it. I've done this with UPS before.
