Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Didn't think Penn St football has been very good for a while?
It is a bit of a shame how college sports are dealt with these days, but I understand the amount of revenue they receive from ticket sales. Looks at you, UConn!

Congrats on the SGS3 Dawnie! I like spending some time in that forum since it's still BLOWING UP! :)
I miss a lot of those customizations too being on stock JB ROMs. But Xenon I just flashed this morning is bringing some back. Can't wait for AOKP to jump on it. :D

Soooo check this out - got some styling accomplished this weekend. This is my "test" application running on a device running GB. Looks totally like a ICS device with the Action Bar, ICS styled tabs and textboxes. Pretty neat and glad I got it all to be one consistent layout.

I'm personally not a fan of the people who run the NCAA and all the people that make money off those playing a sport who do all the work and get nothing for it.

This article is about those fat-cats.

You can't admit there is no bylaw against shopping your son for $180,000 in that vast catalog of dos and don'ts you call a rulebook, and then proclaim you've been given "special jurisdiction" to rule on a case that isn't within a country mile of said rulebook.

By using "special jurisdiction," the NCAA has essentially opened every future case to that precedent. It has set up itself and its member universities for multiple lawsuits based on sanctions resulting from "special jurisdiction" for years to come.

Imagine that, a governing body with no subpoena power now has "special jurisdiction" power.

How fitting. There's still a 900-pound gorilla in the room called the NCAA: toothless enforcement, pick and choose sanctions, different rules for different fools.

And zero credibility.

I 100% agree with you Halon...the NCAA is a joke. Enforcement varies from school to school and case to case. That shopping your son for $180,000 quote alluded to a case that GREATLY affected my university...but the university that should have gotten punished did not and my university got it's name drug through the mud for reporting something (doing the right thing).

I swear if I have to see that Obama ad with Romney singing America the Beautiful one more time I'm going to throw my tv out the window.
I can't believe we have to endure another several months of this.

Also, NBC is showing the first glimpse of James Holmes in court if anyone is interested.

Yeahh, a blog I read called Deadspin put it a little more... flavorfully? :p If anyone's interested (NSFW):

I agree, I also can't believe Romney ever decided that singing was a good idea. ;)

Wow, Stigy, that looks great! If you need a tester, let me know. My wife just joined up on WW and would probably like it.

You know, I wish they'd quit showing pictures of this lunatic from Aurora and saying his name every 5 minutes in a 24-hour news cycle. On EVERY network.

Some lonely but highly impressionable loser out there is going to get it it their head that if they do something so over-the-top violent and senseless, that they will get wall-to-wall notoriety and actually BE somebody for once.

This sort of thing spawns copy-cats all over the place. And that never bodes well for society.

Maybe this rant belongs into the current events forum, but hey: it's the Watering Hole and I had to throw my 0.02 out there.

Yeah, not sure how they thought that would be a good ad. Even if I agreed with the text in the ad, I wouldn't want to sit there listening to the mediocre singing, I would turn the channel, or mute it... Not quite the reaction I think they were going for...

Watering Hole = bar. What do you talk about at a bar? Everything. If it is deemed that certain things have to be discussed elsewhere then I wouldn't consider it a watering hole.

I agree, btw. I don't see any of this since I don't subscribe to any tv service.

Don't have cable myself just an antenna so most of what I watch is NBC. Ads are nonstop for the election. I understand Virginia is a battleground state so that's why we get em. In dc however, Obama got 97% of the vote in 08 so it really doesn't matter for us.

Spot on Chief. Think about it...when some idiot runs onto the field at a NFL or MLB game the cameras ( Media ) quickly move away to show something else so that person ( who is commiting a crime ) will not be seen to give them the satisfaction they are looking for. But when someone committs a crime like this in Colorado the media chooses to show the persons image on numerous networks numerous times a day. So if the media can choose not to glorify some drunk idiot at a sporting event they can choose not to glorify this lunatic in Colorado. Release the persons name sure, but let people find their image on their own. Sadly, there is another sick-o out there like this guy & making him look like he is some kind of rock star b/c he is all over TV gives people like him the green light to get the attention they never got in their life that they are looking for. Just my 2 cents.

I completely agree. We don't need his name or his image. Just refer to him as the shooter, or if you want to be PC, the accused. If you want to be anti-PC, call him a future light bulb. :p

But the inevitable youtube video from his drunken friends will be viewed 5 million times by 10:00 AM the morning after the game.
