Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Well, I learned a very hard lesson today. Was checking my transactions, and noticed a 99.99 charge from Google on my credit card. Thinking it was a mistake, I called to inquire about it. Turns out my 5 year old made a $100 in-app purchase, as I had forgot to set a PIN on the Nexus 7. :( Thankfully Google put in for a refund, although it is not automatic because of the amount. Would be nice if it was not a costly lesson, just a slightly stressful one...

Pinlocking IAP has become part of my fabric as the apps are designed to get you. Even when I flash a rom on my GNex one of the first things I do is set up pin lock.

Yikes! What app would even have an option for a $100 purchase?

EDIT: Double yikes, 1700 posts

Thanks to some tips, I've got it out of boot loop. I had to wipe data/programs so I am back at a "new" phone for now.

2 questions. How do I know if i'm still rooted or not? Under the OS, it's 4.0.4 with akernel by paul@ubuntu #317 and Build number is roman's aokp toro.

Second at the advice of The Chief, I installed and have a backup of titanium Pro tucked away on Google drive. My last backup is there, dated 7/18. I was able to access the nexus via usb and there is a folder inside called titanium backup but all the files appear in "grayscale" meaning no workie.

I tried downloading titanium from the market per their instructions, but since it's already "installed' it won't download.

I don't really want to mess up that backup, since it's all nice and tucked away. Any advise on how I proceed to restore.

Do I drag titanium folder off the nexus, and replace with the one from google drive i.e. the backup. Then do what?

Thanks again for breathing life into the dead subject.

OH WOW! I didn't even know you could purchase anything in an app for $100!

If Apple does one thing right though its meet deadlines. They promised iOS6 at 1PM today and there it was.

I still say that it's easier to make deadlines with an out of date operating system that's lacking features.

iOS 5 was basically _almost_ the feature set of Android 1.6 and Sense 1.0 - you know - an HTC Hero plus Siri.

smh, gang, smh.

I think it might be time to try a different ROM - my phone really doesn't play well with Sourcery. :/ Even on 2.2 it gets seriously sluggish and unresponsive. Might be time to try CM10 or MIUI.

Hi Razor, I am on 2.3, and just flashed lean kernel bc I was getting complete restarts of the phone. So far no restarts, but I did just get a locked screen in the off position and had to do a battery pull. I too have had some lagginess on 2.2, so far I don't see that on 2.3.

Fair enough.

There are SO many rants/so much hate for iOS6 on the MacRumors forums, ESPECIALLY for the new Maps application. Oh well Apple, so sorry.

Can't get google play to deliver new downloads to my phone.

seems like I've had that last time I crashed, something about reenabling play to deliver phone?

I have google gmail sign in and account added now. But the applications from google aren't flowing to the phone.

I have titanium loaded up, and it's offering a bunch of options. Chief said to restore only user apps and data, NOT system apps

It's offering Filter by name, Filter by platform

Filter by type, all, user, system, and uninst?

Any idea which way only does user apps and data and not system apps?

So much for that, phone just restarted when a call came in. :(

Not just for jelly bean I'm afraid. I was getting an error while on my evo lte running Meanrom which is ics. I then flashed cm10( which is jb). Same error. Apparently the Google servers are down according to some info on xda.

And yes I was thinking the same thing! Thank goodness it isn't just me! Lol
