Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

As a wise mod once said, "Friends don't let friends read BGR". ;)

Morning all!

Got some irritating news yesterday, my brother lost his job, in an extremely crappy way, and considering he is a house parent for a children's home, it also means he loses his home. I won't go into why, other than to say its outright discrimination, but that he will never be able to fight it, because the benefactor for the home is a well known lawyer with connections all the way to the top. Thankfully, it is a high demand occupation, and he already has another job lined up. But it is 4 hours away from me, and we were just getting used to only being 45 minutes apart.

BGR is so Apple-biased but I read their Android articles just to see what iOS fanboys are saying about our platform.

Also The Verge layout is a bit over the top but they are probably the best tech blog out there right now in my opinion. AND I have always been a huge fan of Joshua Topolsky and his journalism style.

Really sorry to hear about that Anti. Sickens me to hear things like that. So many discriminatory things happen now that get absolutely no justice. I'm glad he's got another job lined up, but really hate it for you and him that you'll be further apart. I'm really close to my family and it sucks being so far apart from them all, in-laws included.

Sorry about your brother Anti. Everything will work toward good in the end... but sometimes getting there really stinks.

On another note, HOLY SMOKES! JBSourcery 3 just hit! Another full wipe required, bringing Nexus to full 4.1.2!

Geez, I haven't wiped this much since I accidentally took that magnesium citrate and ex-lax together :p

:D

I almost went to JBSourcery but CNA dropped 3.8 few days back and I am in love.

I might have to switch out to Franco's nightly kernel though - the one that comes with CNA3.8 is meh and I keep getting hiccups with screen off.

What CPU is everyone running? 350/1200?

So I guess they now have official pics of the LG Nexus. I am just not impressed with it. For me to even consider a new one this year the specs have to be better than what they are offering.

REMINDER

Including today, there are only 8 days left of iGoogle. I really wish they would keep it. Anyone find any alternatives?

I would still love to know what people are using to replace iGoogle...

Tried a slew of alternatives and considered going back to my.yahoo, but I'm settling on protopage. It seems to have to most customization options, and best of all, it's free and no ads. Works across platforms, from desktop to mobile app. Still prefer iGoogle though.

So I just had the strangest thing happen....I'm using the laptop and have my phone on one side and my ipad on the other (don't judge :p)....I see that Words with Friends has new turns so I pick up the ipad and put it on the keyboard and my computer goes blank. Completely black screen. Panic for a moment then figure I'll hit the power button. It brings back my login password page and all is fine. I do it again (because that's what you're supposed to do isn't it?!) and the same thing happens. My best guess is that the 'smart cover' from the ipad activated a sleep mode on the laptop. Is this even possible? Just curious.

Yep, probably some sensor in the latch of the laptop that was affected by the magnet in the smart cover.
