I have had both, a one hundred pound malamute, Great dog, stubborn to train, but very loving. He developed the equivalent of MS for a dog and at six, I had to put him down. So sad! And now, we have the little guy I posted a picture of a couple of days ago. He was a rescue, we got him when he was a year and a half. We trained him to be a therapy dog and took him to work with us every day. He was more popular than us to or patients, lol. Now we are all retired and he is living the easy life. He has always had a great personality, does not know he is only four pounds and has always barked a deep little bark, never yippy. But now at 14, he has cataracts, is losing his hearing and a year and a half ago fell and and broke his neck. He was paralyzed for about a month and on Christmas Eve managed to stand up and take a few steps. Today, he wears a little neck brace and runs around like nothing happened. He has been a joy and when his time comes, we will surely miss him. Before him, I was a big dog person, but he has totally converted us to the little ones.
