Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Re: "the talk", I remember that my mom got both me and my sister (1.5 years younger than me) books about puberty for us to read; we never really got "the talk" from her per se, but those books were definitely informative. Unfortunately, I can't remember what they're called.

I LOVE to be the bearer of good news!

AOKP b38 is OUT! :D
Feels like I just got b37 haha XD

3 questions:

Can I flash this over b37 without wiping?

DO I need to re-flash gapps with it?

Does anyone here know of a changelog out there somewhere?

I wouldn't considering the big change to swipeable nav bar Widgets. You can, if you want.

Change log won't hit until the builds are posted on AOKP's official page. Technically, b38 isn't official right now, though available for download on goo. I usually wait until roman drops into the AOKP thread on RootzWiki to say it is official. He tweets it as well I believe. And if you check out the AOKP thread on RootzWiki there is a link to an email list for when builds and milestones drop unofficially and officially.

The AOKP thread is reporting pixelation on the lockscreen, so I think I'll take your advice and hold off for the official release... which is, of course, imminent.

I don't expect Kang's "soon" to take as long as Verizon's :p

EDIT: Well, it's official!

Looks like flashing a ROM update on Nexus is a LOT more involved than flashing one on the Droid... WHEW! I have to wipe all this stuff all over again?

Question for the dads here.

My nephew stayed with me this weekend. As he was leaving my sister was talking like I was to give him "the talk" while he was here. I never received "the talk". That info was learned from friends. Anyone here have kids old enough they had to do this? I'm thinking if he does ask me I'll just tell him how it is. To me it seems like the best thing? He's 11. I don't remember knowing this stuff or thinking about it at 11?

^just in case.
I didn't get "the talk" either, but I think it's important to have "the talk". I ended up having "the talk" with my younger sister (16 years younger than me) because my mom was uncomfortable doing it, and I didn't want her to learn the way I did. What they learn from school is very basic, and what they learn from friends isn't necessarily factual. Misinformation is often the reason for unwanted pregnancies or the spread of diseases, and while the level of detail you provide should be age appropriate, I think it's important to open the lines of communication about that stuff so that it's NOT an uncomfortable subject for them and they feel comfortable coming to someone with questions.

So this Snow White and the Huntsman movie sucks donkey butt at the mall on a Sunday.
I heard the same thing, though I haven't had any desire to see it.

Morning everyone!
Everyone see the BIG news overnight?
Samsung Galaxy S III coming to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and US Cellular this month -- Engadget
Now we have to start a million threads in the Nexus forum: "Who's jumping ship for the S3?"

I said in the GSIII thread that if Samsung managed to launch a phone on all 4 us carriers at once, I would be impressed. It hasn't happened yet, but looking like it could happen. I do believe it would be a first, correct?

How do you guys normally flash updates to the same ROM? Do you really wipe the phone? Or do you just wipe the caches and system data?

Sorry for the noob questions, but once again I have this thing set up JUST the way I want it... and an update suddenly comes out!

!!!Noob Alert!!! j/k ;)
Generally, I go with what the developer recommends. Some updates require a full wipe while incremental ones are just cache/dalvik. I think you were last on M5, and I know AOKP recommends a full wipe if going from a milestone to a nightly and vice versa.

Actually, Dread, I'm on Build 37 right now... so a cache/Dalvik wipe should do it?

<------ Nexus flashing baby n00b :D

Ah. (is it pathetic that I know what ROMs other Nexicans are running, or at least pretend to? :o)
Yeah, cache, Dalvik and system should be all you need. However, like they always say, if you start running into issues, go back and do a full wipe.

Okay, one FINAL idiotic question (I think) and I'll leave you alone:

Should I wipe Google Wallet or otherwise protect the Secure Element from self-destruct when dirty flashing? Will wiping system data and upgrading the ROM make it think I'm trying to hack into it or something?

Call me paranoid, but I loves my Wallet...

TIA :)

Oooh, can't say I can answer. I don't use it so don't really care. I'd take the advice from Jmar though in this post:

I have dirty flashed once and had no problem with Wallet. I would say play it safe, as it takes almost no time to get it back going if you reset it, however the past couple days there have been some grumblings that people are getting messages about Wallet, saying its not compatible with their phone/carrier. (after getting the 4.0.4 OTA). That and my prepaid card info is acting up, almost as if they are having pre-paid provisioning issues again.

edit: Come on BB, its been teed up twice now ;)

Really? I was considering seeing it. What's so bad about it?

For me, it was really sloooow and boring. Visually it was fine. Charlize was great. I can't stand that Stewart girl. I swear I heard Thor say something Canadian. Not that it's wrong, just thought it was funny.

Typically if it's a fairly large changelog, new features added, or if my phone was experiencing bugs on the version I am flashing over I will do complete wipe of everything and start from scratch. That usually happens every 6 weeks on average for me.

Jumping in with the others, AOKP build to build I normally just dirty flash AFTER I nandroid back up.

That said, now that I've paid for AOKP backup (highly recommended) doing a full wipe isn't near as painful.

Good morning all and Happy Monday.

Signed a lease on a new apartment this weekend - beyond stoked about that. Ended up being priced below almost everything we looked at and had a brand new kitchen and bathroom - with a dishwasher, which is exciting. Only thing is we pay heat, hot water and electricity. Currently I only pay electric in my apartment, so a bit of a budget change, but if I am conscious of what I am using it should be absolutely no problem. I took the apartment for June 15th so that I didn't have to move everything in one day - makes it easier and less stressful on everyone involved.

Here is AOKP Backup - I just flashed b38 dirty right over b37, hopefully nothing is broken.
