Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

RSRSS, July 26 :)
Quick question for all:
Been thinking of a layout change. I usually try to put the big news stories at the top, middle is the meat - apps and other things, bottom is usually games-related, and human interest. Was curious to know if I should use the hide tags a little to make the posts as a whole more compact. Any thoughts/opinions?

Hey all.
I seriously need some advice here. I am really at my wits end with this nexus issue and the constant data issues. Seems the more I want to do something, the more issues I have with my connection. The Galaxy Note (AT&T) my mom has, does a way better job then my phone does, at least at work, where I tend to play around with things. I have started to suspect that the radio in the phone sucks (it was a refurb) the network sucks (reading that link a couple pages back confirms this) and I live in a fringe area. The constant issues with the data, I am to the point I can't deal with it any more.

Verizon has got me over a barrel here, unlimited data + unlimited tethering. I got about 5 more months before my contract is us. I tried out a razr maxx and it had issues with my wifi network draining the battery while I slept.

AT&T seems like the better network in my area where I work and live, but no 4g, but HSPA is pretty good. I could by another nexus and use that, but I really don't want a second line, nor do I want to change my phone number for everyone and everything.

I really don't know what to do....

Got Lion recovery installed on the thumb drive, got the cover off, the battery unplugged, hard drive removed, and swapped with the SSD and the ram modules swapped out 2x2gig for 2x4gig for 8gig of ram. Downloading lion from apple now. Got about an hour :)

EDIT: Might as well update to mountain lion while I am at it. Fun fun :)

Perhaps I should bootcamp windows, but that means I will need to buy another copy of windows. Blech.

Sounds like being on a fringe area is really killing you.

I live in a LTE city and even in the suburbs I have perfect connectivity. I can stream or tether for hours on end. My only problem is in retail stores it really struggles - but I had this problem with my 3g Incredible too.

Thank you Captain Ron, he loved it. This is the best unboxing I've seen on AF.

Um, crud... I may have a problem here... Never seen this before, but after I wiped everything, I click install from SD card and the screen goes black and just has the android with the spinning thing in his cover...

Maybe not. I think I pressed something. Man, I need to upgrade CWM

Flashing Liquid now.

Give Team Win Recovery a shot. I really prefer it. Easiest way to install is through Goo Manager (free app).

I don't know, the easiest way for me to install it was the flashable version. Just Install like a RMO in CWM without wiping anything.

Is there a way to keep from installing titanium backup from the market?

Yeah, TiBU can create a zip file that you flash in its own recovery session. It will immediately install TiBU to your app drawer :D

EDIT: Anti, have you TRIED TWRP? One test-drive and I was hooked!

That was fun to watch Pup. Thanks for sharing! I do want to see the picture of the plane after he puts it together. And be sure to have him share some of his Pocky Sticks with you. :)

We built it together, but alas, I asked him to clean up while I made dinner. He took the plane apart and put it with the rest of his Legos. Such a good boy.

You also introduced him to another rite of passage, bubble wrap. He loved that.:D I will put the plane back together again this weekend, apply the decals, and put it on his shelf. I'll send you a pic of it when it's done.

BTW, there was something inappropriate in that box in an envelope with my name on it.
