Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

For all the beer-ophiles in the aptly-named Watering Hole ;)

How To Keep Beer from Going Bad

Ahh, light-struck beer. I'm a certified beer judge (BJCP), this was a big part of the test. Finding "defects" in beer (we judge homebrew). Light-struck or skunked is one of the more common problems, but I like finding those with high levels of diacetyl (buttery, butterscotch flavors/aromas), oxidized (cardboard like notes) and others. Haven't judged in a long time but it's really fun, especially drinking homebrew at 9am! (and no, we DON'T spit ;)).

Morning everyone! Wife is working again this Saturday so we won't get to see TDKR. :(
Guess I'll have some time to flash my first ROM for my N7 though. :D I think there's only a couple out there but I'm looking for one to bring tablet mode. I think most do.

These guys experienced an atomic blast...directly above them.
I saw that, crazy.
Not everyone understands the importance of having a good hobby.
You're right. I've had zero luck posting photos here using my Nexus. I've always had to use my computer to post pics.
The DropBox app gives a shortened URL that does not play nice with AF. I haven't had time to play with it to figure out out to get a real URL out of it.
Good Morning all! Half day at work, then home for a day and a half of relaxation... Who am I kidding, I have three kids. :D My oldest starts kindergarten on Wednesday, and we are trying to get him to go to bed at a decent time, but he refuses. Kid was up till 11pm last night, its ridiculous. Sigh, gonna have to be the bad guy I am afraid.
Awesome, Evan starts in a few weeks. Is he going to ride the bus? Evan has been excited about riding the bus since he was about two watching his older brothers catch it.:)

No, he's not going to the school we are zoned for (my County allows you to choose which school, as long as there is space, and you drive them.) when we moved into our house, there was supposed to be a new school built down the road to relieve overcrowding in the District. Well the finished it two years ago, but due to pure bureaucratic malfeasance, they have not rezoned, and so instead of going to the school within walking distance, we are zoned for the worst school in the county 7 miles away, which is at 96% capacity, while the new one is barely at 50%. Also all its students have an even longer trip, because they came from a school which closed on the other side of town. They have held three votes on rezoning, and all have failed. I hate our school board. But at least we are allowed to enroll him in that one on our own.

Wow, that sucks Anti!
I had a couple friends in my high school who lived about a quarter mile from the other one but had to shlep across town to ours. Fortunately, they were about "equal" in terms of crowding and quality. Can't imagine the frustration some parents have when moving to choose the best school for their kids. My brother and sister-in-law (both ridiculously smart and Cornell grads) had to pony up some bucks to move to an area with great schools. SIL is now pregnant with the third so I guess they'll get their money's worth. ;)

Good Morning (I think) Gnexers!

Well, yesterday tried me. Everything that could go wrong, did. One after the other after the other.

Tried to unlock, root & ROM son's Nexus as promised using Wug's Toolkit. Couldn't get the drivers in place to save my life. Finally did, unlocked and rooted. CWM didn't stick. THREE TIMES.

After banging my head it finally dawned on me (one benefit of banging one's head) that he was still on 4.0.4 which broke the root exploit. So I flashed him BACK to 4.0.2, re-rooted and flashed CWM and immediately flashed TWRP. Things seemed to smooth out after that, and he is now thrilled with XenonHD 4.0 and updated radios.

It took over FIVE HOURS.

Then I made a run for milk & gas. Battery died at the gas station. Darling Bride had to come out with the jumper cables.

It was just one of those days that you're glad when it's OVER!

I think we'll be missing JBDan for awhile as he helps wife recover from downloading little JBDan 2.0. Between diapers and 2 AM feedings, he may be scarce around here. We'll try to hold down the fort for ya, buddy! :)

EDIT: Anti - write letters in the paper about that school situation. If you need writing tips PM me. Run for school board. Run for a city seat. Throw absolute FITS. You'd be surprised at how a fast bureaucratic brick wall can start to crumble when you're a civic sledgehammer. There is no way anyone should put up with that.

Yikes, Chief! Did your son look at you like who's this idiot Android lover and staff on a forum?
Were you trying to install the latest CWM that is borking some phones?

Anyone else enjoying the Olympics? Guess I feel like a west coaster watching sports this early in the morning, it's nice. :D Wish we could get NFL games at ~10am like those guys do. :(

That's too bad Anti. My town is small enough that we have single schools. Primary (Pre-k through 1), Elementary (2-5), Middlle (6-8), and High School. Unfortunately the town also voted to build a new Elementary School at a cost of $65 million dollars that will net 70 new desks, so I don't know how that will work out in 20 years when we are still paying the debt.

Missed this, sorry about your day Chief. I guess I don't spend enough time lately on the GNex forum, I didn't realize JBDan was expecting. Tell him congrats for me.

My son is too busy recovering from impacted wisdom teeth extraction (his first experience with narcotics ;) ) to have been a part of the process. He's techy... but still needs to learn his way around. He just wanted Xenon on his phone to use some of the ROM's features.

I have no idea what happened with the drivers. But it flashed CWM 6.0.1.0 so it wasn't the evil version. I was just stupidly trying to flash it over 4.0.4, which broke the root exploit. Once I flashed back to 4.0.2 and started over, it was smooth sailing. It flashed CWM, I reflashed it in ROM Manager, and then flashed TWRP. Done.

Let's just say that it was a day that I could have used a fine Navy "beverage" and I'm glad it's over! :p

All right, getting ready to flash Bugless Beast as it seems to be closest to stock AOSP. I really don't care about the customizations, just want JB so my now is more useful having it on the N7 and my phone. Is there any known issues? Am I way off base thinking this is close to stock?

The issues I have had with liquid or aokp is that I pretty much like the stock launcher the way it is. I don't like the noise with all the toggles and swiping for shortcuts, etc. Its just not me.

Good morning to all you beer drinking, Olympic watching Gnexers.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Pup! Good luck with getting Jelly Bean on your phone. Personally I would go with Jelly Belly if you just want a great stock JB ROM.

Actually tomorrow, but thanks. I'm up and running, just have to install appextractor and the key so I can restore my apps and settings.

Doing some research this morning on a new device. I am still torn over the gnex, HOX and the s3.

What is making it worse is the price of the one x is now 99 bucks with a two year contract! 450 no contract! The one thing that irks me is the lack of a replaceable battery and only 16gigs of ram which I think is about 12 after formatting and system files.

I do know the HOX can be modded big time, almost like the nexus.

the s3 is still an option, but that one x looks mighty tempting...

Yeah, I'm up and running on Bugless Beast 4.1.1. Runs great on my Gnex and I love app extractor. No pesky worrying about which apps and data to back up. Just suck everything out of the nandroid. It's so much easier.

Wowsers. I am checking flickr for photos taken with the one x and I am impressed. Some of the images look like they came from a decent point and shoot camera. Since weather and sunset photography is something I do and I don't often have a point and shoot with me, let alone an DSLR, the phone looks great.

If this image was indeed shot with the one x, well, it may have just sold me on the device:

I'm trying to find a good user to give me some help. Looks like the ROM I tried loading just totally failed and now I lost CWM (I swear to god if that thing borks my N7 like it did my Gnex, I'm going to explode!). I can boot into bootloader but that's it. Probably need to push CWM manually through ADB but have never done it before.

I haven't done it before but I think it is simple. Something like adb push recovery and some parameters. Should be the same commands as the gnex
